Hi guys... I have Marshall TSL 122 combo (100w) and Blackstar S1-45 combo (40w). I want to use Marshall TSL for DRY signal and Blackstar for WET. Fx loop on Blackstar is serial. I connected LINE OUT in effect pedals, then in Return on Blackstar, but when all effects turn off I hear DRY signal of Marshall on Blackstar (not much, but I hear). When any effect turn on, I heard only effects. And thats ok. So I want to know if it's good? Because when I turn on the effects, I have decline dry signal, because dry signal becomes wet on Blackstar. And, in Blackstar INPUT must be connected something to sound out from him (I just put the cable). Why is it so? I would be very grateful if someone could help me.
Thank you very much

Amp 1 send

Effects

Amp 2 return, we amp.

Turn it all down before trying. Then gradually turn up.

Can't read the text well on your slide.

Thank you very much, man. Marshall FX LOOP SEND - EFFECTS IN - EFFECTS OUT - Blackstar FX LOOP RETURN. Just bothers me that they are hears DRY signal on blackstar when the pedals turn off. Maybe it must be?

For the love of all that is sacred, why would you route your signal this way?

I thought it should be so. What do you suggest I do? That everything is working properly.

If you're not picking up a ground-loop, then leave it. I assume the Marshall has a parallel fx loop... Why don't you dedicate one amp as a dry and the other as an effected rig by using an ABY switch? Do you not like the Blackstar preamp?

what effect are you using?

some effects have a KILLDRY function where no DRY signal passes through it which may be KILING your DRY (or seriously reducing it) when the effect is OFF

when you use an FX LOOP "RETURN" on some amps, for your wet amp,
there may not be a volume control for the return level coming from the effect to the wet power amp,

or sometimes there is no VOLUME CONTROL for the WET AMP after the LOOP

or sometimes your effect does not match the impedance of the amp send/return properly

set your DRY amp for a CLEAN TONE, with volume low

take signal/line out from dry amp to "SEND" to effect input

connect effects output to WET AMP fx return

set your WET amp volume low

turn on effect-i like testing with delay sound

slowly turn up dry amp master volume; do you hear sound in wet amp?
if not turn up wet amp until you can hear effect slightly. if no change you may have to turn up "SEND" from dry amp if possible, or "EFFECT LEVEL" on effect.

slowly turn up dry amp more...does wet amp get louder too? if so good.

continue to turn up dry amp until you hear clean sound start distorting in wet amp, which means you ran out of headroom in effect input---- then back off dry amp volume/SEND until effect is clean sounding again.

balance dry amp volume with wet amp volume

change channel on dry amp to dirty and balance volume between clean and dirty channels

Thanks man for long post. I appreciate your help. I use Tc Electronic Flashback X4, Strymon Blue Sky Reverb, Digitech Hardwire Chorus. On Flashback there is an option to be fitted KILLDRY (I did, on Flashback KILLDRY is switched). On Blackstar (wet amp in this case), MASTER VOLUME control volume WET amplifier. Yes, I hear sound in WET amp when all the pedals TURN OFF (not much, but I hear). May be little to be heard? And, DRY sound in WET amp depends on MASTER VOLUME control on WET amp. When turn up VOLUME on WET amp, dry signal is stronger. When effects TURN ON, I hear only effects, no dry signal. Its ok. It bothers me that I can hear DRY signal on WET amp whene pedals TURN OFF. Total power sound depends on VOLUME control on DRY amp. All MIX control on effects to set 100% wet. Thanks

I tried all of this. When from LINE OUT of DRY amp - effects - FX RETURN WET amp, volume of DRY amp not controlled WET amp. Only VOLUME on WET amp controll WET amp. And I hear DRY signal on WET amp when all effects turn off. And I tried next: FX SEND of DRY amp - effects - FX RETURN of WET amp. Then DRY amp controlled WET amp and his volume. But in this version, again there I hear DRY signal on WET amp when there is no effects. I do not know what it is. Maybe try something else. And whether to put mix controls on effects on 100 % wet?

:hys:

DUDE! Are you serious? If all the effects are off, of course you will hear DRY signal through the WET amp? How is that not completely obvious to you? Unless you kill the signal going to the WET amp somehow, when the pedals (read all effects) are turned off, all that is left is dry signal...

Steve

yo gotta return to the marshall to otherwise signal is gone on main amp. or use the line out feature into fx then slave power section.

Steve, thanks :D Now it is clear. I thought it should be heard only dry amp when the effects turn off. I did not know that in this case must be heard dry signal from dry amp on wet amp. When the effects turn on, dry volume will fall and will be quieter because the dry signal became wet. I hope to be so. Once again, thank you all for your help. Means a lot to me :)

No problem - good luck, man!
