WGS Speakers: What's the Skinny

I wanted to sell my Uberkab and get something else for Mark V:25. These days though it seems cabs have no value so I'm going to keep it. But I have been toying with the idea of putting in 8 ohm speakers to make it an 8 ohm cab. WGS speakers look tempting for the money. Anyone out there try the Veteran 30 or Retro 30s?

Veteran 30's are tits. If you like Celestions V30's you will dig these.
 
I bought two Veterans for a Bogner 2x12, didn't care for them, sounded papery, maybe they needed more break in but I sold them.
 
I've had the Retro 30's. They sound good, but not as good as V30's. They're laid back, polite and lack the grind of the Celestions.
 
You could easily rewire your 16ohm cab into 4ohm to use with your Mesa head. I've done that with my Orange cab.

Yeah. Was thinking of doing that. Parallel would give me 4 ohms. Not even sure either is worth the trouble the more I think of it. I know a 16 ohm cab in the 8 ohm output is a safe mismatch. I did that with my Mark IV. And yeah, the 4 ohm re-wire is an easy fix. I'll probably either just leave it alone or go 4 ohms. But I spent some time reading the WGS website and there are some nice speakers there so I got interested. Plus, made in the US. I'm all for helping out a small business these days.

I have the HM 75's and they sound great.

I would buy WGS again but since the price has risen idk.
 
The Veterans and Retros are still $69. Compared to V30s, that's cheap.

They're supposed to be less harsh too I think,

You should go for it.

Side note. While maybe not cheaper. El Marriacho has a pair of Scumback's for $110 each. If I could I would.
