WGS Veteran 30's. Anyone tried these?

I'm hearing people prefer them to their Celestion V30's...James Peters was one.

Yes, i bought 2 of them and shoved them in a Port City 2x12. They do indeed sound very very good. I think i do like them better than Celestion V30's. They're smoother, lots of punch and killer low end. You can't go wrong for $45 each. And they're made in the USA unlike Celestions.

how do you like that port city cab?

hate the cel v30

like the wgs v30

LOVE the wgs CL80 (BL80?)

What do people think about the Warehouse version of the Greenback?

I put to Veteran 30's in my Bogner OS 2x12 -- I definitely like them. The have all that fat midrange of the V30 but they're smoother, warmer. But I like V30's to begin with, soooo,...

I have regular V30's in my Recto 2x12 and I like them in that cab,...not sure I'd like the Veteran 30's in there as they'd probably be too dark -- they work very well in the Bogner cab.

This WGS guy is only about 30-40 minutes away from me, over in Paducah, Kentucky. Between the three guitarists that keep our stuff at the studio, we have had probably 10-20 of his speakers and all of them have been great. They sound excellent and you just can't beat the price.

So the Celestions have alot more bite/harmonics/attack than the Veteran 30s ?

Um,...I wouldn't put it that way. The Veteran 30's have very good harmonic content and attack,..they've just managed to smooth out the mid spike that a lot of people don't like. But I would say regular V30's have more bite. That said, the amp you use, guitar, pickups, etc have a lot to do with the kind of harmonic content, attack, etc that you achieve as well.

If anything WGS speakers give you less ear fatigue, i like them better for metal than the Celestions.

It's great. I did buy it cheap on Ebay though. I haven't cranked it yet but at low to medium volumes it's really big sounding.
