LIstening to their Screw it CD and i love the tone plus in their live vids his tone is so fat and full sounding. Anyone know whats amps he used to use back then?

I know that at one time during the early Danger Danger years he was using/endorsing the Peavey Rockmaster preamp with the Peavey Classic 120/120 poweramps.

I think around the time of Screw It was when he got the Laney endorsement though, so most likely Laneys during that era.

The weird thing i noticed though is that on almost every track of the Screw It album, his tone sounds almost like a preamp that's been direct recorded, and you can clearly hear it clipping on the levels like it was too hot in the mix. 'Beat The Bullet' solo is a good example of what i mean, listen with headphones and you'll hear it.

Then listen to the solos on 'Everybody Wants Some' and 'Slipped Her The Big One', and the guitar tone on those solos sounds night and day better than any of his other tone on the album. Sounds actually like a mic'd up amp and none of that weird clipping on the top end!

Funny you mentioned that preamp thing you heard, because I was researching the Hughes Kettner Tubem,an Rack and back then he used to endorse the Tubeman Rack which is a tube pre with direct recording capabilities.

Really?? I did not know that, thanks for the info!! I knew i could hear some sort of direct recorded preamp sound on most of the solo parts!

Those other two songs have completely different tone on the solos. Doesn't sound direct at all, more like a cranked up Marshall mic'd up
