I'm going to buy a Carvin X100B head, but I don't know what cabinet I should use to go with it. At first I wanted to use a Marshall 1960A slant cab (4x12), but then I saw a video review on it and I also liked the sound of the cabinet he was using with it (What I'm guessing is a Carvin cab). I'll post the video of the review below, if anyone could identify what cab it is that would be awesome.

I'd also like to know what cabinet you guys would prefer using with it, thanks for any help in advance.

i watched that same video, then went out and bought that exact grey carpet covered stack.....only to find that it sounded nothing like the video.

enter BFG amplification. Brian basically walked me through some mods to get that tone, or at least get me more into the JCM territory. i posted a semi-crappy video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL76f2nasdI

the carvin cabinet sounds good with that head, but i would say the marshall 1960A cabinet should get you close. carvin was basically doing their version of that speaker at the time. i remember when it seemed like everyone thought the celestion G12T-75 was the greatest speaker made......after the greenback of course.

i just acquired an axe-fx ultra, so i will be selling my entire X100B full stack if you are interested?

Back in the 80's the Carvin 4x12 cabs came with either Carvin branded speakers or Celestion G12M-70 speakers. The Celestion filled cabs were the most popular. I believe the G12M-70 is the same speaker that Marshall was using in their JCM800 cab at the time.

I still have and play my X100B that I purchased back in the late 80s from the Hollyweird store. I played it with one of the carpet cabs I purchased a couple of years later and it sounded like shit. I believe the carpet heads came out the following year and they had Carvin speakers. My amp was a vinyl head and was the first line with EL34. The chassis was for 6V6s as I have EL34 stickers covering the 6V6 on the chassis. I still play the amp today and it sounds better with Greenbacks or Heritage. About 9 years ago, I purchsed a Carvin cab for $150.00 from Craigs's list. This cab was from the mid 80s. It was equipped with three of the G12M-70 speakers. I did not care for them. I have this cab currently empty and I think I will go with Lynchbacks or creambacks.
