I’ve just about got my Synergy module thing going, mainly waiting on the IICP module to be in stock to fill the open space. Now I need an easy way to switch between everything and I’m pretty sure MIDI is the way to go. I know enough about how MIDI works but not enough to know what features I need in a footswitch.
Here’s my setup and what I want to do:
I have 2 Syn2’s chained together then running into the FX loop of a line 6 DT25 as the add channels to your amp setup. On the DT25 I have Channel A set to the DT amp presets I want and Channel B is set for using the power section of the DT with the synergy modules.
I want a footswitch to select the DT25 amp preset on Channel A and put the Syn2’s in bypass or select a module channel on one Syn2, put the 2nd Syn2 in bypass and select the appropriate power amp setting on Channel B of the DT25. I’d like all this done with the press of 1 button.
As an example:
Pressing button 1 would select Channel A Plexi amp preset on the DT and put the 2 Syn2’s in bypass
Pressing button 2 would Select Channel 1 of the Pittbull module on #1 Syn2, put #2 Syn2 in bypass and select channel B topology III on the DT25.
Everything has MIDI in and MIDI out/through. I don’t know if a simple MIDI pedal like Tech 21 Midi Moose, Behringer FCB 1010, or MeloAudio MIDI Commander would do what I want or if I’d need something with more functionality?
To ask it another way… Can I accomplish what I want by sending the command to each device through a single MIDI channel or would I need to send the command to each device on its own separate MIDI channel?
Any recommendations on a specific MIDI footswitch would also be appreciated.
