Tighter bass and thicker, but still has the treble and high mid crunch. I hear
BK Painkiller
Suhr Aldrich
Rio grande BBQ
Hill Chronic
What else?

Anderson H2+

I don't think the BBQ sounds anything like a JB. Its really thick and stiff, doesn't have the fluidity of a JB.

just spoke about this with friends in another thread, X2N

I play the JB in a Les Paul Custom
with Fantastic results, I love it.
But I am intrigued lately with the
Bare Knuckle Rebel Yell set for the LPC.

bk rebel yell
the holy diver has less high end than the JB
painkiller sounds nothing like a JB, except for the amount of mids (maybe it has even more)
the motor city afwayu has some JB flavour, but it's A LOT more bass heavy (more than the holy diver)

hotter better JB = Aldrich.

way less hot and better JB = Rebel Yell.

better than all of those, but deferent = Anderson H2+

At 16.4K 5/6/8 the Dimarzio X2N is actually a close match. May be higher output, though. A Super 2 may be a closer match in output, but has less DC resistance. I'd actually try the Super 2 first... YMMV.

Cheers,

I also have heard the Motor City Afwayu is like an improved JB, but I didn't really hear that when I had it in my Les Paul.

I did go from a JB in strat to an Anderson H2+ and am happy with the change.

The Dimartini is totally based on a JB but a little warmer
80% JB
20% pearly gates I think its called the RATM or something like that
