so i'm in the final stages of putting together my GCX/Ground Control rig and i'm putting a Digitech Whammy in my rack to be controlled via the Ground Control Pro.

It says you can use an expression pedal to do so, but what are some good ones to look for? i've never had to use one before so what brands are good. price is, somewhat, irrelevant.

I use an EB Jr Volume Pedal with a TRS to 2 1/4" TS cable. I love it. It doesn't take up too much real estate on the board, and the sweep of the treadle give me more control over the whammy.

I use a Roctron Hex and Loved that. It has 2 outs, one TRS if you want to use it as an expression, one mono if you decide to use it as a Volume... I originally bought it to match up with the Dunlop controller pedals on my board becasue the Hex is the same shell as a Cry baby . Functionally, its awesome...

i heard there can be some issues when using an EB as an expression pedal and i like the price and construction of that Rocktron Hex so i may give that a shot.

anyone got one for sale??

What issues have you heard about with the EB? I've never had any issues whatsoever, and I'm on that thing quite a bit.

on the EB site they had this in the FAQ:

Q: Can the Ernie Ball Volume Pedal be used as an expression pedal?

A: Normally the answer is no. Our volume pedals very simply require a signal input into one jack and an output is sent out of another jack. Most expression pedals are sent a single TRS cable from the device it is to control which both sends and receives an electronic signal. These are two markedly different functions and one cannot be substituted for the other without intense modification.

An expression pedal controls the amount of voltage that allows certain functions, such as, delay, distortion levels, volume, etc. in a keyboard or an effects processor to perform to whatever parameters the user sets it up to do.

Our pedal may work as an expression pedal, but the manufacturer usually suggests what type of pot needs to be used, 500k, 250k, 25k, etc. in a pedal, keyboard, or an effects processor. The pedal might require a more sophisticated design. It is best to contact the manufacturer to determine what type of pedal is necessary.

i really like the EB Jr pedal i currently own and wouldn't mind getting one for this but i found one of those Hex pedals on Ebay new for $70 shipped. i think EB Jr's sell used for more than that

With the GCP, it works like a charm. I and 3 other guys with the GCP use EB volume pedals for this. I've been using one for 3 years now, and I use that thing A LOT during a set, practicing 3-4 times a week as well. I've never had one problem. I think for the whammy, the sweep/feel of a dunlop style pedal might be a bit weird. IMHP YMMV of course.

well that's really good to know because i really dig my EB Jr pedal.

so which one would i need, the 250K or the 25K one? i would imagine it doesn't matter but i'd just like to be safe :)
