I recently picked up some stuff to have better sound recordings and to get into multi track recording etc. I picked up an iRig for my iPad. It's pretty cool but only has one track at a time capability & no software. I checked out a presonus 2 input for only $10 more & it's own software free. That seems like a no brainer. I really like how easy the irig is to use but it seems way overpriced for what it is.

What are you guys using? I will most likely be using my iPad since my laptop is not very powerful.

Focusrite Pro 40 for me. I bought it here in the classifieds, and it has served me well for a couple of years now.

I was looking at the focusrite 2i2 but it's usb, so no iPad unfortunately

Sorry, I misunderstood your post. I took it to mean you were wanting to move away from the iPad, until i reread it.

That's ok all opinions are welcome, I'm new to recording so I'm like a sponge

I highly recommend the apogee duet, I got it a few years ago and absolutely love it. Have been using that with GarageBand since I started and haven't looked back.

You can do two tracks at once!

I have a Tascam US2000. Overkill for me, but I wanted something rack mountable.

I use the Focusrite Saffire as well. I use it with my iMac. Great, great unit.

M-Audio ProFire 610 (2 mic inputs, firewire, stable as a mutha, sounds great, friendly price, compact size).

You can get an ipad to usb cable relatively cheap on the internet.

I'm gonna see what else guitar center has today. My local one doesn't carry the presonus 2input, but one with a slightly further drive does.

Even with a iPad to use adapter I would still want software

Apogee Symphony with Thunderbridge. Apogee 8x8 Analog I/O + 8x8 Digital I/O - Symphony I/O Module.

Focusrite iTrack Solo. Made specifically for use with iOS devices, as well as PC/Mac.

I wound up picking up a presonus for iPad today, 2 inputs, and it comes with some multi track recording software

I've got an Apogee Quartet, but thinking of upgrading to some UAD stuff. Simply for the CPU relief and plugins, Apogee sounds great.

Grabbed a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 a few months ago, and I'm very impressed with it. My only real nitpick is that phantom power can only be assigned to groups of pre's vs. individually.
