I know it is an objective question but in terms of quality and in terms of modern era. When I ask this question I am talking about cabs made from 1990 to today.

I love my Diezel cab and I just picked up a Bogner Uber 4x12. I heard really good things about the Bogner 4x12s so when a Uber cab came up for sale for 600 dollars I could not refuse. The probelm is my rack is getting reading to be sent off so I wont have a chance to try my Bogner cab for a little while.

I have heard the quality of Mesa and Marshall 4x12s has gone slightly downhill in recent years any thruth to this?

I am looking at purchasing in the future a Wizard cab along with another Diezel but I want to hear opinions on the Mesa and Marshall stuff how it compares before I consider those. I do have a 80s Mesa metal grill cab with a half back and 2v30s with black shadows and I love it.

The quality of Mesa cabs has not gone down hill. However, Marshall cabs have. I'd personally choose a Bogner V30 or Mesa Trad/Stiletto cab.

Diezel and Bogner have dominated everything ive ever played cabinet-wise. Mesa's are to bright on the top end and marshalls are to mushy for my ears.

this.

The diezel front loaded was WAY too stiff and directional for my tastes.

The VHT FB is great, but could be a wee bit bright for some, + the break in is forever on the P50E.

The Framus cobra cab dents when you look at it and tears when you think about it, but sounds great.

The emperor cabs are SICK, but get marked up with their lack of covering

The old 90's Trace Elliot 4x12 cabs are about the best overall cab I've encountered. seriously. UK-built, awesome, resonant ply. Same wiring as a Marshall. Cheap as hell on the used market. pick one up in a pawn shop, and be floored.

Mills Acoustic Afterburner

....and I own a Diezel cab (USA made) and a Bogner Ubercab.

I compared all 3 side-by-side not too long ago and the Mills was the best IMO. Plus they are alot cheaper new.

Don't like new Marshall cabs, and many older ones too   Need to find a "magic" one. I did have an 80's JCM 800 cab for a long time, and it could get "farty". Even after doing a few minor mods it still could get farty - that's when it went away :)

I have played a Diezel front load, and didn't like it. WAY too directional.

Been a long time, but I thought Mesa's were OK - not my fav, but didn't sound bad.

Own a std Bogner bottom cab, and think it is a pretty darn good cab. I have H30's in it now, but it interesting. I normally do not like V30's but the Bogner cab for some reason makes them sound good.

The Marshall Hand Wired Cabs are very good (Comparable to the Bogner 4x12). Only new Marshall Cab to have IMO.

I have several 4x12s, and three of the four mentioned in this thread:

a 1960 V30 (vintage) Marshall slant
a bogner 4x12 slant
a mesa 4x12 slant oversize (with armor!) :)

and a Marshall 1960 slant with 75 watt celestions.

Each cab does it's own thing and has it's own amp preference IMHO. My '92 recto rackmount KILLS through the mesa cab - the bogner doesn't have as much low end and sounds muffled by comparison.

An SLO Soldano likes the Marshall cab best. The Bogner is dark with it, and it sounds loose with the Mesa.

The Ecstasy sounds best in the bogner cab. The Marshall V30 is too bright, and the mesa cab is too loose.

All three amps mentioned above sound like poop with the 75 watt celestions.

I used to think that matching the manufacturer's cab with the amp was BS and a way for them to soak you for a few bucks... but my ears say otherwise. Oh, and the DSL that I sold Tweed awhile back - sounded better with the Marshall V30 cab than my Bogner. That was surprising to say the least!

Very subjective, but as far as build quality-less speakers of your choice.

CAA straight 4x12
VHT FB and Deliverance. FB is a bit tighter, D is more vintage give.
Mesa old school 4x12 with back panel.
Bogner closed back

Just look for solid Birch Ply with finger or dovetail construction.
The real challenge is finding speakers that suit your taste. For example, I have yet to hear a good sounding V30 loaded cabinet with any amp.
But if I ever want to remove paint from my walls, that's what I would buy.

AFAIK, neither the Bogner nor CAA have finger/box/dovetail joints. I'm not sure about the VHT or Mesa. But obviously, those are all quality cabs and there's more than one way to skin that cat.

Poor cat. :D

An empty Avatar vintage and load it with speakers you like. My scumbacks rock in my Avatar and Ive got a friend who loaded one with a quad of 69 pre rolas to pair with his real 69 cab. He likes the Avatar better.

Not considering Randall or ENGl?

I had a Randall cab with Jaguar speakers and was not 100% impressed and my friend had a ENGL that I did not really care for. Both were decent.

I have heard a few Marshalls from the early 80's that really impressed the hell out of me.

I have also heard really good things about the Wizard cabs but cant find any except for the new ones and they are pretty pricey.
