What is the deal on the NAKED mod???

I recall hearing the clips in the vid but they seemed harsher than the Marsha.

I'd be looking for a thicker Marshall tone, more like a Bogner and a much improved clean channel.

What older Marshall would I need to send in?

According to Rob at TM, the Naked is actually a smoother gain tone than the Marsha. The Naked was running through new V30's while the Marsha vid was with Scumbacks. That's why the Naked sounded so bright. Also, if you look at the settings on the Naked head, the presence was set kinda high. I still thought it sounded fantastic. :yes:

Its about as opposite of a bogner xtc as you can get. I have a naked and a 101b they go great in parallel as the xtc easily gets much more of a mid grind and the naked smooths out the high and lower ends without getting scooped.
 
Thanks guys! That explains a lot!!!! I am not a V30 fan at all.

Boof, how is it that different than the Bogner? To me the Bogner is a modded Marshall...thicker and smoother......kind of what I hear in the Naked, minus the V30s. :)

I would not pay to get a new Naked but I wonder the cost if you sent Dave a JCM 800(2205)

well kinda like i said (i should note that the speakers I use are indeed v30s) it is just smoother. if you are looking for a hot rod Marshall I don't think this is what you are looking for. But I have to admit even though it has less gain than the XTC I love the naked its just very tight and smooth. the more I play it the more i like it. that's for the dirt for the cleans the xtc green chan has a much more woody feel to it. I don't know how else to explain it. I know my description really sucks and apologies for that but if you want a Marshall bite and grit look at a fortin cali or something if you want somethign that is very smooth and articulate on individual notes then the naked would nail it on the head. I love the naked.
 
The Naked sounds like it might be a sweet amp. I bet the new 20th Shiva is in a similar ballpark of tone.

I would never in a million years buy a Naked out of the box. Too expensive but I would consider sending in a Marshall for the mod. :thumbsup:
