What kind of amp is this?

What I hear in my head: Tight in the lows, wide/warm in the low mids, cutting in the high mids, warm highs that compress and get smoother as you turn them up (instead of spiky). Gain: at lower to mid gain settings, ringing chords "take off" after the strum (am I describing compression?). You know how Dumble amps have been said to be able to feedback on the clean channel? That's basically what I mean.

Is it possible to have a guitar sound that is simultaneously wide/deep/harmonically rich and cutting/edgy/crunchy/percussive on the attack? If yes, tell me what amps I should seek to demo. TIA.

20 watts of roaring fury.
This beast can be tamed down to a smooth baby rhino squeal with the turn of a volume knob.

KSR ARES has most all of the attributes you've mentioned, but its more geared towards modern metal, and I get the impression your looking for an amp for another style.

My old bassman head and a couple boost pedals. Still miss that rig.

More of a vintage metal feel. Not a fan of overly stiff tones and I like pick dynamics. Most modern metal seems to lack that. If I had to highlight studio tones, think Cirice by Ghost, crossed with the tight lows and round yet articulate highs of Master of Puppets.

Probably a Mesa Mark derivative. Maybe a Mark IV or Studio Pre. The Studio is a rounder, thicker sound. The IV is tighter. JP 2C is probably the best Mark that's readily available.

^^I would agree with a Mark series until the cutting upper mids part. Then I will suggest a Jubilee, original or reissue with a boost pedal or two. Sweet top end that has cutting upper mids, but also good lower mids and a nice abundant low end that rivals a Mesa. The reissues can run any 2 pairs of octal tubes as well for different tones. Gotta boost them though.

Or a Wizard. The MTL and MCII have those attributes.

I actually have a Mark IVa and racer pretty much nailed it. What I find is that if the 750hz isn't at least somewhat scooped, it loses its wideness. Maybe the answer is to add a second amp and keep the IV set up to accentuate the low/low mids and have some Marshall (or variant) take care of things on the highs.

Rev Generator MK II  Channel 3 Aggression 2 gets really close to the Cirice. I barely have time to play but when I do, I usually pump up my PC speakers and play along with songs just to learn. Huge smile on face jamming Ghost with this amp. Definitely look into this amp line.

Hey man, don't be knocking the vintage Gorillas!

My vote would be to try to some of the Friedman amps... Have you ever tried a Dirty Shirley?

In that case the first thing I would suggest is changing your settings on the Mark and running an OD out front. That way you can run it more bass heavy than usual, still scoop the 750, and then bring in some cutting upper mids with an OD or possibly an EQ in the loop.

If that doesn't work I would look at a Ceriatone Marshall. Probably a Yeti, or a King Kong if you need a clean. I had a King Kong for a little (it actually might be for sale on here from someone else). That amp can get very ice picky, but it can also be tamed with the various bright switches and presences controls. It also can get a lot of low end with the deep controls and the feel switch.
