I ordered a used Carvin X100B from GC in Monetary Park, California. Then 3 days later i received this email:
Good Afternoon,
I want to contact you regarding your order for the used Carvin X100B Tube Amp Head. The amp head arrived to us in a damaged state. All the tubes and the nameplate on the front are missing. If you still want the item, you can contact us at the store at the number (323)278-2052 and we can negotiate a lower price for the item.
After 6 attempts to call them someone finally picked up the phone. Apparently, the amp was sold and returned having been damaged in shipping to that buyer. They also said another issue was that the sliders on the graphic EQ were bent and they'd knock $200 off of the price if I still wanted it. $200 would barely cover replacing the tubes so I declined.

Here’s the kicker, as soon as I canceled the order, they relisted it for sale.

Are they selling and shipping it repeatedly and then claiming shipping damage over and over? Are they hoping someone will accept the $200 off so they keep telling the same sad story? Or did the buyer before me scavenge it for parts and then return it? Sounds really shady to me.

The latter

And I think you meant *running not ruining

But yeah, I've noticed shit like this often enough

I bought my Mesa Rectoverb head from them but what I didn't know was that the reverb was borked and it was missing a footswitch. But then again, I negotiated the price down to $490

when they enter a return in the system it automatically goes up as available .... I use to be decent friends with a few different GC Managers over the years .... from what I understand that's how it works .... doesn;t make a lot of sense ... but that's how they operate

Have had that happen a few times to me/.. orders cancelled, no explanation.
Item shows up on the site again.

What happens if I order it again?

:D

I’d say you got lucky. Even if that amp was totally mint, it is the biggest piece of garbage, next to a Genz Benz Diablo.
I’ve always wondered what the Diablo sounds like

you'll get it shipped to you again .... if they don't catch it in time ..... if I remember right .... the " main " Manager has to take it out of the system .

they will just cancel stuff on you ...... I remember I had seen a Diezel Herbert Amp for sale ...... and they had it listed for something like 175. bucks .... so I bought it ...
The the kid working the floor cancelled the order .... and it still showed available for 2 days ....... when I called I talked to the head manager at the store ..... and he told me " Obviously " they didn't have a Diezel Herbert amp for sale for 175.00 ...... it was listed incorrectly . and then poof .... it didn't show available anymore

playing used Guitar Center Roulette can be fun ...... and I've scored big time doing it .....
