What Marshall era 1960 cabs are best for AIC or Jonez tones?

I see Cantrell has been using Marshall 1960 cabs in his backline for a long time.

Also Adam Jones has one with his Superbass head...

What kind are they using? I am new to the whole Marshall cab fiasco and I know there are many different versions of the 1960A and 1960B.

What is the best years or era to get? What badge should I be looking for?

I know some of the metalheads were raving about the ones made in the early 80's.

I just dont want to be in a position of going through a bunch of Marshall cabs then selling off the ones I dont like till I find one that sounds good to me. So if I know what to look for that would really help.

You want want to PM Dave Freidman at RACKSYSTEMS.
He just finished Jerry's tour rig, he would probably know if he was putting that thing together.

Unless it is a 100th or maybe the VM cab due to the Jimi speakers I would not touch any new marshall cab, just my opinion.

I just picked up a CAA cab unloaded for $300 that blows away any of the new marshall cabs construction wise and bought a h30 loaded Diezel NYC for $650.

There are better cabs unless you pay up for the early to mid 70s cabs.

The Marshall Handwired cabs are awesome. Sounds as good as anything I have had in the past and I have 6 of them now.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I already have a Diezel front loaded with v30s and a Bogner Uber cab along with a steel grill Mesa cab.

So I am looking for a Marshall cab specifically to complement my 74 Superbass head and yes I am considering those new hand wired cabs.

I do remember hearing good things about some of the cabs Marshall made in the 80's and early 90's so I was just curious as to what was the good buy since the market is flooded with cheap gear.

What speakers are you looking for?

Dont know that is what I am trying to figure out.

I always loved Jerry Cantrell's sound live through out the 90's and Adam Jones has a monster tone with his Marshall/Diezel mix so I am curious as to what type of cabs they use.

It would help narrow down what I want out of a Marshall 4x12.

I am going to take a guess and say they are using greenbacks possibly?

Edited to add I remember in the early 90's every one was really big on the Marshalls with 75watt celestions.

Adam plays through Marshall 1960V cabinets. V30s.
When I saw AIC down here in Australia, Cantrell was using 1960V cabinets too...

for this tour looks like 8 Bogner 4x12s pic of his cabs below dont know whats in them though that was the only info.
