Hey all,

I love my Mod 50, but I have to admit....GAS gets the best of me at times and I jones for other amps. Anyone get this and if so, what other amps do you have and why? I have been eyeing up various amps to add to the Egnater collection.

I love my Gerlitz Dual Revelator. Blackface and Plexi in one amp, and being number 26 of 59 total ever made, I just can't bring myself to sell it. It's also a great recording amp. Between that and the Mod50, I need no other amp. Well maybe an M4 and some more modules, and the E2, and the upcoming single space power amp and ...

Where to get one? I can't find their website.

Maybe I'll try to just be content with my Egnater and stop the GAS attacks by getting the Tour Master 212 and Scumback speakers.

Even though a lot of the Egnater modules have a distinct EGnater flavor, you can still make em sound very different....like plugging into a new amp. If you have the SL2X and run E34Ls, it will sound way different from running the Erect and 6L6 tubes. That is what is SO cool.

Greetings! My first post here.....
I was lucky enough to start my gear lust with a '68 Twin that my dad bought new and handed over to me(in '68) to gig with. Awesome clean tone, but WAY too loud to get dirty. I have been loving my Uberschall for many years now. Unrivaled crunch, wide growling mean tone. Just picked up the Renegade and I love it as a 'tweener. Amazing clean punch, leaping out of it and an array of dark grunge, to cutting lead tones in the gain channel. My amp hunger is (temporarily) satisfied.

You should try one of the Mod heads. :D

bogner fish
groove tubes trio
soundclinic climax preamp
ada mp1
ada mp1 classic
rivera tbr2SL
rivera TBR3
vht 2150
dr z carmen ghia
mesa blue angel
traynor yc40
roland jc 120H
acoustic 140 head
sovtek mig50
rocktron velocity valve (technically not an egnater)
Rocktron VP-4 (pretty much an Egnater)

I've got a Randall RM20... that doesn't REALLY count.

I just posted this in another thread, but if I were to get another amp, I'd do something WAY different than a high gain channel switcher. Between all the modules, the Mod50 has that territory totally covered.

I'd probably get a Tweed Deluxe 112, or a Blackface Deluxe Reverb clone. Or make one myself. ;)

All this being said... if I found $3K, I'd probably buy a Bogner XTC for sh*ts and giggles. Just to piss off EWSEthan.

I own a 2000 AC30tbx that I've modded. I also have a Heritage Briton II head that was modded by JMJ amps. It's be converted to JMI specs, Top Boost and EF86 channel.

I love the Mod 50. I'm still learning the amp but so far I'm very impressed. I took the AC30 to last night's gig and after 3 songs I was missing the Mod 50. It covers so much ground.

They aren't made anymore. He only made 59 of them before realizing that they were too expensive to build. Ebay is about the only place to find one every once in a while. If you do find one, they can go for around $2500 very easliy.

Harvey Gerlitz used to be the cabinet builder for Matchless, so the build quality is outstanding, but they are very heavy. Check out the Harmony Central reviews, to get an idea of what people think of them. Really a great sounding amp.

Only other amp is a Laboga Mr. Hector.

Currently Gassing for a 64 amps meanstreet, Fortin NATAS and a Fortin Cali mod or Bones. Somewhat down the priority list is an Axe-FX, which I'll get around to someday. I also want to build a modded marshal type amp (Steve Hennings design!) and maybe a few trainwreck clones or an SLO clone.

Modular amps are not the be-all, end-all but they sure do a lot of things very well. There is room in the toybox for everyone :D

Amps:
2x Egnater M4
1x Egnater Rebel 30 head
1x Marshall 2555
2x Marshall 4100
1x Marshall 3210
1x Vox AC30
1x Roland JC120
1x Fender '59 Bassman reissue
2x Fender '65 Twin reissue
1x Ampeg SVT3-Pro
1x Eden WT400
1x Gallien-Krueger 800RB

Cabs:
1x Egnater 112x
3x Marshall 1960A
1x Ampeg SVT-810E
1x Eden D410XLT
1x Hartke 410

Only other amp I'll have besides a Mod50, Mod100, and M4 / RT2/50 rig will be this:

Gold_White_Logo.jpg

It will be a Ceriatone 2555 (Silver Jubilee clone) chassis that I bought directly from Ceriatone all wired up without the output / power transformer and choke installed. I sent it to Trace @ Voodoo Amps to have him put Mercury Magnetics power / output transformers and choke in there, and make sure it was all killer sounding. I know he's gonna upgrade a few parts in it to make sure its 100% screaming...and a killer amp. The headshell is a custom made small box plexi headshell made by John @ Stone Age Cabinets.

The Silver Jubilee is the one amp I do miss having in my lineup. Nothing I've played ever matches it...and I do miss that tone!!! So instead of buying an old one..I decided to just make one. It'll be cheaper in the long run anyways!!

The pic above is just a mockup that RockStarNick did for me...not the real amp. I'll have it sometime in the future. Trace is working on it as we speak. Should be done in the next couple months.

gotta say that i am not digging the hybrid egnater/ marshall look

the amp itself looks pretty cool though.

i think it would look better if it was all creme!

It's all good man. I wanted it to match my 4 egnater cabinets. So that's why I did that. I dont like tan THAT much to do an all tan head.

I have:

-Egnater Renegade Head
-Diezel VH4
-Fender Princeton Reverb RI
-Duesentrieb Little Joe (made by our own and loved duesentrieb -Olaf- here at RT). It's a 20watt amp with two channels and a boost on the 2nd channel. Channel 1 is a deluxe reverb clone and channel 2 with the boost off sounds very VH4ish, once you kick the boost (4gain stages) it takes you into Soldano SLO territory.

Besides my MOD50 I have an pretty beaten up Ampeg VL1002 which I'm currently putting back to pieces and doing a couple of mods on. It will have 4 6V6's in the power amp and the mod gives the clean channel a really clean fenderish kind of tone and the overdrive channel a Marshall kind of vibe to it. Thinking about rebuilding the reverb to a parallell loop as well since I'm not that much in to reverb...

My second amp is a Ceriatone Plexi 50 head with Dagnall trafos - might try to find som old Drake's to replace them with. I might mod this amp to a dual channel higain amp in the future...

Eric, you have a Mod50, Mod100, and an M4. Why have three amps that do essentially the same thing? :D

Nice looking Ceriatone Marshall by the way.

I would consider a Ceriatone if they could do a two channel and it actually worked at low to moderate volumes. Plexis like to be cranked and I know there is no place I could ever crank it, LOL.
