What replacement switch for a True Bypass pedal.

I have a Catalinbread Naga Viper that needs a new switch. I know it’s true bypass and has 9 connections per the board. I always get confused on the DP’s and the DT’s but even though I’ve got my porn and drinking addictions under control I need to figure out the correct type of switch.

I don’t have a solder sucker but have wick. Will that work OK to desolder the 9 pins?

Sounds like a 3 pole dpdt switch. Cost about 10 bucks for a good one. A solder sucker is cheap and makes it so much easier, its worth the few bucks.

The throws is the number of connections the switch makes, and the positions is the number terminal sets switched. If there are 9 terminals, it would be a 3PDT switch, with three rows of switch connections that switch the middle of each row to either top or bottom. A 2PDT switch would only have 6 lugs.

As for desoldering the switch, get a solder sucker. They are cheap and handy. When you suck the holes on the board clean, it's a lot easier to replace parts. They just do a better job at sucking the holes clean than wicking.

Just make sure you have the switch facing the correct way. Being a 3PDT switch with 9 lugs, putting the switch in sideways will fry stuff.

Yeah, I figure it’s switches the light as well so voltage needs to go to the right place.

Would you recommend and all in one like this (iron + sucker)
