Cab is rear loaded....

The GT75's sound kind of loose in the bottom end

Looking to go for a tight and smooth approach...

Was thinking of classic lead 80's as I have a 1x12 with one in it and I do like it a lot. The seem like a good like a good blend with a V-30's as they are louder and some what tighter and smoother than vintage 30's

I know SQUAT about Scumbacks and the universe seems to love them...

I would want a pair to complement the V3o-'s I'm leaving in the cab.

I only want to change two spekers and leave the v-30's as well...

THANKS !

Why Scumback?

Ummm... I guess because they seem to be very well liked these days from what I see.

I was thinking about the heritage G12H30 as well... I had the anniversary 70watts once and didn't like then very much...

It depends, I don't think it's that popular on its own
Much people like it paired with V30's though

People will like Scumbacks because
A- They're sheep
or
B- They supposedly reproduce pre-Rola Celestion speakers and offer different wattage options

Are those pre-Rola voicing better suited for vintage amps? I'm not sure. One thing is certain, Celestion is now a big player in the high-powered vintage-voiced speaker with the Creamback serie.

I think you have something there on the blending with V-30's thing as I had a 4x12 with all anniversaries in it when I had those speakers and maybe that's why it was not doing it for me.

The Heritage GT-65's come to mind as well on the Celestion side of things too

Also your very correct in regards to the whole "Sheep" thing... It is pretty predominate these days.

In addition to "Sheep", the terms "Fan-boi" and "Knob-Polisher" come to mind as well too ...

I feel like I'm hammering a point, but wth

I'm not a fan of mixing different magnet sizes
Usually, heavy magnet = 100 db and medium magnet = 97 db
I know the Uberkab mixes V30's and T75's (100db and 97db), but that's a good thing since the V30 will overpower the T75 (  )
If you want even sound (db) from your speakers, mix heavy with heavy and medium with medium

Ahhhh... Interesting point.

I think the Friedman cab mixes V30's and Greenbacks which are pretty big diff in magnet size.

I'm not the biggest greenback fan though.

Again, that might be done on purpose, making the V30 dominant in the mix

BTW, what amp are you using?

I'm torn between mixing the V30's with wither Classic lead 80's or G12H30's now...

Can't decide, but leaning towards classic lead 80's...

I hated the CL80. no bite. all blanket.

I have a V30/h30 cab which is killer, in fact I'm about to pull the H30's from it and put in my ubercab as I hate 75's.
I also have a v30 mixed with a scum H75 which also sounds great. Can't go wrong really unless you leave in 75's lol!

When you say H30 do you mean the g12h30 anniversaries or the g12h heritage 55/75's ???

75s have their place
with my warmer thicker eggie tol 100 it was great to add cut
not good with peacemaker-too edgy and harsh

prior to the advent of uberkab i ran a v30/75 2x12

80s are cool but boogie celestion mc90s might be a better pairing

one speaker i really like the sound of is the eric johnson eminence

and tone tubbies hemp green are refined V30s that are cool as were the THD longhorn celestions
