I had a couple hundred of them a few years back. About the same style as you mentioned you have.
Tossed the whole lot on Ebay and got a pretty good price for them. Better then having them sit around.

Darren, send me a copy of your cd when it's done and I'll send you a buttload of these cassette tapes you might want?

I got a few hundred too. All 70's-80's metal. OZZY,Metallica,Megadeth,Savatage,Dio,Sabbath,KISS Alice Cooper. Everything I grew up on. Have an ass load of albums too. I can't bring myself to unload them. It was always a thrill as a kid when I saved up enough to buy a new cassette/album,take it home and play it over and over, read all the liner notes, memorize the words, learn all the licks. I have a tape deck in my basement, sometimes I break em out. Keep them if you can. Someday you may wish you still had them.

I still have one of those double cassette players, but It sounds good through my studio monitors when playing tapes. I'd be willing to take those pantera and metallica cassettes off your hands :D

I am. Have a load of tapes. And vinyls.

Might be interested in those Metallica-tapes, by the way. Which ones are they? And what's the condition?

Keep them dude, if you can. I will always keep these as memories and a nice music room filler and discussion starters. Every body that comes to my house always comment on my tapes, saying how they should of kept them and looking over the titles and starting stories,Etc...

I find this to add to the cool factor of a music environemet:

Once in a while i pop them in my cassette deck and oh the memories....

Do not get rid of them.

HEY GET OUT OF MY BOX!!!!  I thought I was the only one who bought that Britney Fox tape and saw them at Hammer Jacks when I was 18

lol. I literally just got rid of all my 80s cassettes on Sunday. I had about 60 tapes in 2 carrying cases and a Denon tape deck on sale at a garage sale for $10 on everything. Noone bought it. The next day, someone who was at the sale e-mailed from are craigslist ad saying he was interested in all of it if I still had it - so he came by and bought it. I had been carting those tapes around for nearly 25 years.

Let go of the past, get rid of any non essential items in your life, you will be happier for it. Even though 7 stringer tape collection is a cool nostalgia trip and convo starter not everyone can do that...

this is very important..... getting stuck in the past it's not healthy. It's not about the tapes, it's about the music. You can find ALL of those on CD/Digital Download, so get rid of that man, unclutter your life

if/when you're ready to get rid of them, i recycle stuff like that through greendisk.com . they do charge a small fee per shipping box, but they take all sorts of media types--cassettes, CDs, VHS tapes, even the old 8-track reel-to-reel masters of my band's demo from 15 years ago.  beats just chucking them in the landfill.

Hell Cds are getting to this point with iTunes,MP3 players iPhone, iPods, iPads and computers.

I hear ya, but I still buy CD's. I have never purchased an MP3. I can usually get a CD for about the same price, and the quality of the sound is better. I convert CD's to MP3 for my iPod, but I still listen to my CD's when I am home many a day.

nah, people still need a physical outlet to listen to music/burn.

It WILL disappear eventually, but not yet IMO
