What tubes for the Framus Cobra?

My buddy's got a Framus Cobra that he's going to send to FJA and have Jerry mod the snot out of it. One of the things he is doing is having it switched from EL34's to KT88's. Have any of you Cobraheads out there done this? I know that the Cobra is very finicky about what tubes that it likes. What kind (power AND pre-amp) do you suggest? Thanks in advance for any help.

He should try Gold Lion KT77's first. Much better than 88's imo.

common choices are RFT on v1 + shuguangs for the preamp and chinese shuguang/ruby/TAD EL34BSTR for the power amp
