Getting a 2015 Archon 50want some KT77's, I don't really know where to go tbh.

JJ or Genelex? I am not thrilled with JJ, don't want to pay $50 a pop for Genelex and I have found Genelex to sound a little stiff with some other amps.

But that's about it. Whatcha'y'all think?

I think JJ's are fine when it comes to the more common power tubes. Just got a set of JJ 6L6's for my Badlander and they are just fine.

The JJ KT77 is my favorite power tube. Treat them like a 6L6GC when biasing. I think this is where most folks that don't like them have erred in treating them like a weak EL34 and biasing to 25 watts instead of 30 or so. They need HEAT like the E34L!

NO issue with JJ's here when I pooed a quad into my old Butterslax for a bit.

I remember you being a JJ fan, but have you used their KT77's?

Edit : some JJ are great, I like the E34L but not their EL84 or 12AX7
Oh yeah the JJ KT77's, that's typically my go-to.

Genelex by far for me….. or, for a different flavor that’s even more awesome to me: EH 6Ca7’s

I have those in my Friedman. Big sounding! Maybe a touch bright on the top end, but thats what the treble knob is for!
