I think I am going to my local Sammy Ash to take advantage of a sale and financing this week!!

I have a PRS 24 as my main guitar, and am needing a backup, as I found out this past weekend much to my dissapointment. I am looking for a guitar in the 500-800 dollar range. Has to be a Sam Ash carried brand as they will have special financing. I have never really got into Strats or Tele's but I am seriously thinking of picking up a tele or strat. Anything good to look at in this price range? I play mainly drive tones, or semi dirty tones, with the occasional full on saturation. Running through Randall and Egnater Modules.

I am going to try out some different ones, love the PRS feel however. Thanks for the suggestions.

Any interest in buying used? You could probably get an MIA H/S/S strat in that price range without too much trouble

It would have to be at Sam Ash. They are running 18 months financing this day!!! This is the only way I can swing a backup right now, pay it off over time. Wife won't let me go much over 800 bones.

Are you looking for a similar guitar to your PRS or one completely different?

Since you are looking at a strat or tele it sounds like completely different....

Woops, I missed that part of the original post

I love my PRS, but probally will be looking for something different, IE strat or Tele. I am planning on trying out the PRS SE's, but think it might be a good idea to get something different you know. Some of the tele's have me interested, but I am open to really whatever feels and sounds best in the moment. So Ibanez, ESP, whatever, its all open really. I know that does'nt help narrow it down. maybe the SE's will win out. :aww:

Personally I'd go for a tele, nearly polar opposite your PRS, and a great guitar to have around. Maybe a Palo Escrito?

Yesh, I never gave tele's much thought, hate how most of them look except some of them are real lookers, but lately, have heard some sweet stuff played on them, and it would be a nice opposite.

As far as strats, I'd check out one of those Highway One's with the maple neck and 70's headstock...I played one of those the other day and it sounded REALLY nice. Alder body, maple neck....

I would check out the Fender Highway one series Teles and Strats, play a bunch and get the one that feels best to you.....

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I hope the local store has em! going tommorow will report back!

yup, actually it came down to those guitars (liked the active EMG one) and the ibanez prestige I posted above, ended up going with the prestige, both felt amazing, and I was surprised how good the active pickups sounded, but the Ibanez just won out and I got a better deal on it, and it felt great.....
