What's a good portable equivalent to a Diezel amp?

I love my VH4S and Diezel 4x12 RL Cab w/ V30's but it's a b*tch to move when I just want to go over to a buddies and jam.

Any recommendations on a portable combo amp or something along those lines that sounds at least close to my rig? Any ideas?

I guess I could get a 2x12 speaker cab but I don't know how much those cost and I'd have to get one that is stereo.

Some 19" rack gear is on the horizon which may make life easier. Maybe.

But for now? If you want the tone, you gotsta slug that beast around

Dammit Mo, you're probably right.

Anything Line 6 or Marshall that's decent? Or multi-effects pedal board with amp modeling that would get me by? I know, lame right?

A Diezel with wheels

Line 6 is going to be nothing like Diezel. IMO, if portability it such a big issue (and I don't understand why - you spend 4 grand on a Diezel head but won't bring it out to a gig) then I would recommend getting a portable cabinet and use a quality head - Personally, my VH4 with a headcase and Diezel RL 2x12 is fairly portable - a little lifting, but I maintain my tone wherever I go. If I want a different flavor I just bring a Marshall head instead.

Never tried it but there's some hype on Axe-Fx
Ya, it was only a matter of time before the A2 was mentioned. Honestly, I know my Diezels - and I've yet to cop a perfect tone from the A2 amp-to-axe toe-to-toe. Maybe it's not enough time tweaking with the Axe, maybe it's simply not yet there. But the A2 just hasn't cut it yet. The 3D bounce that a VH4 punches out is - in my opinion - the magic that simply cannot be replicated. It's like an added dimension to the sound that's not just face value.

This leads me to one of the reasons I've yet to be HAPPY with any of the recordings I've done with the V... Mics - at least in my frustrated few years with - can't capture that 3D bounciness that you hear and feel in the room when you're playing a V. Same goes for the Hagen, but the V's way harder to capture.

Blah blah blah... I'll shut up now

Axe FX II (at least as of Ver. 6 when I owned it) VH4 model was terrible. Some models sounded ok, but man that Das Metal sim was not good. There's now a "Dizzy" model which is apparently is "base on real amp" according to the Axe Wiki. What was the Das Metal based on? A fake amp? Makes no sense.

Das Metal was a program preset based off of another amp model in the amp/cab Axe repertoire.

The new Dizzy's are apparently from amp profiles.

Whatever, guys, I'll just say it like it is - the Axe-FX is a great unit. It really is. But for guy who dig their amps and love the tone that they've fostered by getting to know their amps, there is no replacement for that. Sure, sure - some big names have gone the A2 route, and that's great. It's not a replacement - it's an alternative. And a very good alternative at that.

So it goes :dunno:

Maybe a Kemper and model your vh4 rig?

It's fairly close and super portable.

$100 marshall combo + boss mt2 :D

Seriously.... if you got a car, get a 2x12 and wire it in stereo... or man it up and move the 4x12

if you aint got a car it's another story...

Avid eleven rack is what I use for jamming at my buddys/ jamming at the house. pretty decent tones out of as well. got a rack with

11r
carvin power amp
furman power

comes with pro tools as well
deff worth a look ..but deff not as good as a axefx but the 11r is alot cheaper then a axefx

Axefxii at fw9/beta has a nice diezel selection (vh4/herbert, couple of channels each). it's a good alternative to my vh4 when it needs to be headphones only:)
