All right my Rig Talk brothers(and sisters).....what's a quality volume pedal? I've never needed one as most of my bands I've been the only GP....or, our sound guy just bumps me up...got a reunion gig coming up, and we're running PA from the stage...thinking I need a vol pedal for my leads.
What say you?

Get good with your guitar's volume control but yes it can be hit or miss sometimes.

I have a Korean made chrome Fender unit that works just fine for a basic lap or pedal steel setup but the string drive stuff has a shelf life. The Ernie ball ones are cheap and work. I think @Smash has a Lehle, nice piece of gear $$$.The pedal steel players live on their volume pedal and seem to like the Hilton, Telonics, or Goodrich. Those might be more lo-pro than you want since they are designed with a seated player in mind. Good morning.

Cool thanks!

I do use my guitar vol but that has more of a ‘lower the gain’ effect than actual overall volume. It’s my 72 Marshall with the 46-2 Langner mod. Stupid gain but I can actually get a nice bluesy dirty clean with the guitar volume

The volume pedal in front of amp lowers gain. In loop, it would lower volume. The trick is make it the last pedal, so it impacts how your signal including boost hits the front.

Actually no. I’ve had friends that use them; you set the lead vol with the pedal maxed; then back off and there’s your rhythm. The ones I’m talking about look like a wah pedal

If it is a true volume, which mine is, the volume part of it would only control volume in the loop. In front, it would be the same as your guitar volume. There are certain pots on a guitar that control volume instead of gain, but not as common..maybe what you are talking about is like that.

I'll have to reach out to a couple guys that used them way back. Both amps were stock NMV Marshalls, with boost pedals for gain.
