The search function will give you all the solution details ass for the black iron, doesn't seem like anyone even has one yet.

Ask JMGman69
we played his recently comparing a lot of motor city pickups.
I thought the Solution was ok...very clear, but a little bright.
it was almost like I was hearing a 498T with more of everything, more mid, more bass, same treble clarity. just slightly bright.
I ended up going for a Warcry, instead. that pickup was nice, tight, bold and raw. different tone than all the others that day.
However, he isn't making them anymore.

I talked to the dude at Motor city, and he gave me the rundown. Said the Black Iron was about like the Solution but a little tighter and more mid focused. I don't think I would care for either.

hmm.

That sounds more up MY alley.

May have to check out the Black Iron...

Just gave him a call and he totally reversed what I had in mind...
I ordered the Warcry for my Les Paul Custom, but he said I should probably use the Warcry in my Standard, and try the Black Iron in the Custom, due to the Ebony board and the interaction of the bite and such.
interesting.
Maybe I'll be heading to Luxxtone tomorrow...

The Black Iron is the official release of the old Blissterbucker, just with a few minor tweaks. Basically it's an Angel Dust but with an Alnico II magnet. So it's around 14.5k, with a sweeter top end and a little less gain, but super articulate and vintage in character. Very pissed off sounding and still lots of gain to do any type of metal, but without that super hi-fi type tone you get with a lot of higher output pickups. It totally rips.

Had a little pickup shootout today courtesy Mr.Luxxtone, compared a few Motor City's-black iron, Detroiter, Angel Dust (I think), bare knuckle painkiller, Aftermath, Holy Diver, and a wolftone(can't remember which).

I went home with the Black Iron!

I recently installed a Blissterbucker in my PRS Tremonti. I have a Detroiter in my other Tremonti... I play them both through a Friedman Marsha. I tell ya, I keep reaching for the guitar with the Blissterbucker. I prefer it. The Detroiter sounds a little scouped in comparison to the Bissterbucker. The Blissterbucker is more pronounced in the the mids and highs and retains a slightly vintage-y feel/sound. Like Luxxtone said above...

With that said... Is the Black Iron exactly the same as a Blissterbucker?

Very close, but not exact. It's a little tighter in the lows.

It seems pretty tight in the lows to me.

you just have to decide if you like the whole mid thing that's going on there for the Black Iron.
It's pretty much higher mids...

listen to the clips I posted...
