What's the tone in your head?

With few differences, this is the one in mine:

I love the super rich distortion of Oranges, and the Dual Dark got it just right in my opinion so it didn't get too fuzzy. There are maybe a few things I'd change (I'd really like to hear this amp through some EVMs), but there isn't much. What about the rest of yous? Is there a particular amp that captures everything you're looking for or maybe you're looking for a blend of aspects? Something new altogether?

I've been trying to chase this guitar tone for a while. I'm not exactly sure how much of it is overdubbing or modulation that I'm hearing. But it's so pleasant sounding for a distorted guitar tone. After really getting into this band years ago (on top of already loving Uli-era Scorps, Deep Purple and Rainbow, Yngwie) I have rarely played humbucker-equipped guitars.

I have only achieved this by blending two amps together

Looks awesome. Why did you choose slant cabs ?
Those are the older Mesa cabs with the straight face, but with slanted top speakers. for some reason those older V30 cabs have always sounded best to me. Generally I prefer slant for the upward trajectory. I need the sound directed at my ears (sitting or standing) to get the top-end feel that I want. Just personal preference.

I've had two dual dark 50's. I sold one of them because a got a crazy offer, regretted it, then scoured used listings for months and bought another. Still have it. Something about it is a bit more unique than the Rockerverb, which I also like, and I also have a Thunderverb, which I feel is more similar but obviously the dual dark is "more." With some EQing it also nails a lot of the sounds my OR50 does - great amp overall, although I wouldn't recommend it to everyone because I do think the feel and low end especially can be an acquired taste, if for example you love Marks or 6505's, it's not really like that.

As for the tone in my head, man, I just don't know. I'll spend days on a rectifier, then switch to a Marshall for a while, then something else. I love them all, and each amp I feel excels at different things. I will say though there's something about VHT Pittbulls that just hits the dopamine in my brain just right.
One of my go to examples is "Backlit" by ISIS. What a fucking song, and a great showcase of good tone and feel:

Those that gig, we like to hear ourselves over the drummer. Only way for me is to run slants. If I used a straight cab, I'd have to tilt it up.
Works for Adam Jones.

My ‘03 slant is Godly but I am interested in playing some 80’s cabs with the frame stamped V30’s. 90’s recto cabs are a big park of the sound in my head.

I can’t do slants . To airy for me . And on top of the straight it’s even worse . Again we opposite like always

I get it . We all are different. I just noticed both were the same and straight. I’ve never gigged with a straight and I was fine always .

Slant guy here too. Shows I can hear myself, and for micing I throw it on the bottom. Works great.
