What's your favorite 12ax7 in V 1

It really, really depends on the amp. I have liked the Tung Sol reissues in a lot of stuff but in my Budda a plain old Sovtek 12ax7wa (so far) is the best, in my Genz Benz El Diablo it's a EH 12ax7eh. I've got a few NOS tubes laying around too but in these newer circuits I didn't think they sounded any better\as good as the newer stuff. I do however love a good nos GE 5 star grey plate in any slot that affects the clean channels. I do think with the simple clean circuits you really hear a big difference in tubes.

Surprised to hear those who found the Tung Sol Reissue dull and lifeless .....

I guess we really do all have different ears :D because hands down my favorite with a Chinese 9th gen. a close second unless the amp is really on the bright side then I might go with a JJ or a Sovtek LPS , but overall the Tung Sol has really worked in just about everything except for some of the Cameron's I have owned ...

      I guess so! It is just what I found works for me. So, I try to keep the same tubes on hand and don't have to fiddle around too much.

First choice is a Tunsgram. Second is a Mullard from the 70's. 3rd is Amperex for a little more bite. Juicy shit
