Hey guys, been thinking about buying a .44 Magnum pedal to play through my cab for kicks, but was wondering what other sort of decent, yet inexpensive, options there were for plugging a pedalboard into a cab minus the preamp? Assuming there must be at least a couple of decent solid state options out there? Any thoughts would be great! Cheers,

I have a 44 mag and love it. It's only flaw is heat. I used it as an amp for the 4th of July parade I was part of and it started getting hot. It was in the mid 90's that day, everything was cooking.

Thanks for the thoughts guys- anyone else have any opinions? Mike, have you jammed with the 44 or just used it for practice? I'm curious how it would hold up with a drummer, the videos seem to indicate it might be able to hold up, but it would be good to know from a player! Cheers

44 is cool for smaller stuff, it does run out of headroom pretty fast for me, but it depends on what style of music your playing. EHX needs to come out with a 88 magnum or even more powerful pedal amp that has a built in hi gain preamp or clean preamp thats switchable / eq / with an fx loop in the size of a regular pog 2 chassis =) although the 44 magnum is really an amazing little thing, it falls short for me in a full metal band scenario as far as headroom goes. It's ok for back up or emergency though, BUT I do like to play VERY loud. I just picked up a rocktron velocity 300 1u poweramp and so far its pretty good, pretty good power and features and not a bad price either.

I wish matrix would come out with a gt1000fx 1u power amp with a resonance and presence control on it, i'd buy it in a heart beat.

I honestly don't know. I have a Roland Jazz Chorus combo amp, but I wouldn't call it cheap at $1,795.....

In fact I'm using it at the moment as the hi-fi stereo and speakers for my media player/DVD player in my bedroom- because I'm too cheap!

Hughes and Kettner CF-100. Very good, half rack space and hard to find. I happen to have one sitting around doing nothing. They are pretty popular with those in the know, when they can find them. Google it. If you are interested,pm me and I will let it go cheap.
