What's your favourite octave pedal?

Hey guys, I've been toying with the idea of getting another dedicated octave pedal. I've been using my whammy pedal mainly on the "harmonize an octave" setting and rarely using it for the other settings, so I was thinking of getting another pedal to dedicate to that, so I could use the whammy pedal on other settings.

I'm thinking of something smaller since I don't have much room left on the pedalboard, and hopefully not crazy expensive. As long as it can harmonize an octave below, that's the starting point. What do you guys use/recommend?

Thanks in advance! Cheers

I love the HBE UFO Octave/Fuzz. Hard to find, but terrific sounding. The Fulltone unit is also pretty decent.

You're looking for straight up Octave up/down effects, right? Not like an octave fuzz or anything? If so, the POG or the Mini POG is the way to go. Simple, cheap, and kickass.

The Boss OC-2 is still my favorite octave pedal. It just has that wicked cool vibe.

yeah, no need or interest in fuzz since I don't want it to clash with my gain settings. My friend let me borrow his OC-2, and it had a pretty cool sound, but it seemed like the tracking was off and couldn't handle an open D in drop D (standard). Flubbed out- also, it seemed to have a hard time tracking bends, I could hear weird stuff going on. However, I'm not sure if it's just how the pedal sounds, or if there was a problem with the pedal- I heard clipping here and there too, and my friend said he wasn't sure if it might be broken or not, so not sure if I'm getting an accurate demo out of it or not! Does that sound like a regular OC-2 to you guys?

A lot of the demos I've seen on youtube don't have a lot of heavy riffing going on, which is the main thing I'd be using it for- not trying to sound like an organ or 12 string, or using an upper octave, or using it to beef up solos- just adding some lower girth to riffs. So, I've been having a hard time finding clips that indicate whether a certain pedal is for me or not! Any other tips or suggestions?

This thread is very timely as I to am looking for an octave pedal without added fuzz (hate that sound)

That sounds pretty normal for the OC-2. A lot of people dig it because of those quirks. It's got a unique vibe all of it's own. THe POG is much more of an "accurate" octave generator. I think the POG is just what you need!

POG, however I use mine to turn my guitar into a swirly Hammond organ.

T1M modded EHX Micro Pog.

What does T1M do special to the Micro POG? Im interested.

Man the hunt for an octave pedal is a bitch. I've been back and forth with octave pedals and was just at Guitar Center yesterday demo'ing most of the octaves. Played all with the BE100 on both channels. I didn't demo the one super expensive new multi-band analog pedal, and the Mooer Tender Octaver which I hear is just as good as Micro POG.
Best clean tracking just has to go to the Micro POG. I didn't dig the tones at first but after tweaking the pedal awhile I got a good distorted and clean octave tone when cranking up a BE100.
Best single not solo tones was the Octron, this pedal was on my board for two years and rips with all the Friedman amps. Bought this after hearing a killer demo of someone playing it with a BE100.
Worst pedal was the Earthquaker Pitchbay.. this was a huge disappointment as I really wanted this pedal to work, but the lag or latency was the worst in all the pedals and the octave was way out of tune which made it just annoying as hell.
A good pedal for the money is the Boss OC-3, was way better than the Pitchbay.
If I could have two it would be the Octron and Micro Pog for specific playing styles.
