-My POISON, The Rabbit Hole I keep going down again & again,....

-#1) -(AMP's)- I've never owned the same Make & Model twice, even thou I've had some I really liked, fought to keep, and immediately regret selling. I always fall for the HOT!,NEW!!-hype-(The LATEST & GREATEST AMP!!!!)- and even thou,... I know... it hasn't,.. it won't,... it can't,.... I-DO-IT-ANYWAYS- -I LOVE AMPS-
-8 Amps is the most I've owned at the same time,. I think?
-I can't remember all of them, or the exact number,
-I've seen 2 pic's of me & my amp-(an amp I don't remember owning)-(people's tell me stories about the time I -(blah-blah-ed)- & the amp I had,..... I nod & laugh, ... but remember niether-(HEY!!!.... it was-("THE 80's!!!")-A FUCKED UP TIME!!.... WE DID FUCKED UP THINGS!!!!)-


-not my poison- -(GUITARS)- I've never owned more than 3 guitars at once... and that time was less than 6 months, and was just once. its always been an even -50/50- split,
one or two,.. one is always an -SG- its all I want, all i need.
 
I've only owned a maximum of 3 amps and 3 guitars at the same time. I'm not a hoarder & I have very specific tastes in both, so with very few exceptions, the latest and greatest amps/guitars don't interest me much.
 
I've settled on the amps I really like (guitar and bass). I'd like one more guitar (backup with a Floyd Rose), but I'm extremely picky and I keep cycling through guitars because I just can't find one that checks all the boxes the way that my #1 Floyd does. Driving me nuts.
 
I think if I had to narrow it down. It would be my ESP Custom shop Kamikazie and my FJA modded Dual recto.
That combo cant be beat. Rest is just fluff.
 
Amps amps amps. Guitars, no more than 4 usually. But amps, I think I've had up to 7 at once. Trying to narrow it down to 3-4 now.

Lol.
 
Been on the same two guitars for 13 and 7 years.

Too much fun trying new amps :yes: There is a chance though that the Fryette stuff might seriously quench my amp flipping habits. Honeymoon still for sure, but the D60 I recently acquired is truly something special.

Mine is Guitars.....I can usually Get almost Any Amp to Have a Decent Sound, Even Made a Crate Blue Voodoo Work for me once then realized it wasn't me that made it sound good, it was the Amazing LP Standard that I own that has EMG's in it. I Genuinely suck IMHO. I HAVE owned as Many as 12 Guitars at a time...Almost all of which were Gibson Les Pauls & SG's & 1 Explorer & 1 Taylor Acoustic.

I only have 5 Les Pauls Now...1 Silverburst LP Custom, 3 Standards & 1 Custom Painted (Sam Bass) LP Studio. I also still have my Taylor Acoustic which is a 310CE from 2001 or 2002.

Once you find the right guitar(s) for you (that play, feel, and sound just right)... it's all about various tones. And amplifier/speaker is the most important piece in the tone chain of an electric guitar rig. I can take a $300 guitar, put great pickups in it, and plug into an amazing tube amp and it will sound amazing. I can't take an amazing guitar, plug it into a ho-hum amp and have it sound amazing. I tried that many times over the years and never got a great result until I cared less about the guitar and more about the amp. I used to gig a pair of PRS CU24s in the late 90s. They were the best guitars I'd ever had at that point. But I was playing them into stuff like a Peavey Classic 50 (ewwwww) and the result wasn't optimal. It wasn't until I upgraded to my first great tube amp (H&K Triamp Mk I) that I felt like I'd really arrived tonewise.

I currently have an LP R0 (best LP I've ever owned/played by far) and a Tom Anderson Classic strat as my main two guitars. So I'm not slumming it by any means. But even when I play my much less expensive Gibby Studio, Yamaha Pacifica, or Squire (American Squire... seriously) strat into my Friedman BE100 or Splawn Quickrod, they sound amazing. If I plug the RO or Anderson into a Crate... they'll still sound like shit. And though how a guitar feels/plays are very important to me, at the end of the day how I sound is far more important.

j/k I'm more interested in guitars than amps. I find that I can get more total and musical variation from different guitars than with different amps. I'd rather have a wide selection of scale lengths and pickup configurations than a wide selection of amps.

That being said, I haven't owned that many amps.

The really good gear always costs a fortune. And none of it will make me a better player.
I stopped trying to find my "special tone" many years ago. I'm sure I would be happy with
a $1,500 guitar into a $1,000 pedal board, into a $3,000 amp hooked to a $1,000 cab.
But that wasn't going to happen.
So I have been making noise with a $700 guitar into a $200 amp for years.
I'm the opposite of the rest of the people on this forum.

The BOSS Katana head will probably be such a huge upgrade for me... I won't know what to do with myself.

Pretty darn satisfied and thankful for what I have right now but there is always something sitting in the back of the mind going......."hmmmmmm......that just might sound better....or.....if I put this with this and that with this, it will be the best ever"

I should just stay away from the Boutique guitar shops near my area.

That is kind of how I am too. I have a decent variety of old and shitty and expensive guitars and basses ;) Some were given, some were passed down and some I just impulsed on. But each guitar I have makes me play in a different way or style (usually). Slowly but surely i'm outfitting the ones that could benefit the most with better pickups and new wiring so they each can have their own unique tone... even my shitty travel guitar has a BK Riff Raff in it lol.

As for amps i'm currently at the most ever at 4 heads, a 3x12, a 1x12, a shitty 8" combo and a Roland V-drum amp. I'm curious though, when you guys say you only have say 3 guitars or 2, are you only counting electrics? Or acoustics and beaters too?
 
If I count my crappy classical acoustic, that would make 3 guitars plus my ex wife's shitty Uke. lol
