I've had 3 EBMM Axis over the years. Kinda have the itch again. And started looking around a bit. I'm surprised at the lack of used ones on forums, enay, reverb, etc.

Also wondering what the quality of newer and current ones is like these days?

Just sold my pink Axis Tribute on eBay last week and it sat there forever. Where were you?

Not looking to buy until now and not super serious just yet any way.

Got a new Axis Tribute delivered to store when they came out
it had wonky frets and a new in-house floyd on which the edges got stuck on the posts causing it to ping
It was a real piece of junk
I have owned a bunch of Balls and stick to those from the distant past

If you want some info on them, go to the Ernie Ball forum
Sterling Ball has an ego to rival any I've come across - he makes Hitler look like an apologist

Interesting. A bit older and loved more is probably more my speed cash wise any way. I had a really cool burnt apple one in early 2000s i wish i still had. It was the best playing and sounding one.

I've had two Tributes and they were both fantastic, flawless. I've had a few other Axis guitars and they were great too. One I absolutely stole for $350 when a guy just couldn't get anyone to buy his guitars and had to be out of his apt. by a certain date and was moving overseas. They are such excellent guitars.

I've owned with Axis guitars and an EVH. I wanted to live them. The build quality was outstanding, but I could not get along with the tiny frets that they love to use. And I could not justify spending that kind of money on a guitar just to turn around and sent it off for a refret. I think the JP series is the only one to use jumbo frets. However, I could be wrong...

I've had bad experiences with current production EBMM. I went through 3 JP6s trying to find a decent backup for my older one and all of them had various issues.

Sizeable neck pocket gap, damaged/flawed hardware, and most annoyingly each of them had the tremolo screws drilled at an angle such that if they were backed out enough to level the bridge you couldn't put the backplate back on because the bottom of the spring claw was sticking out the back of the guitar! Their dealers argued that these weren't defects.

My 2011-ish model has none of these issues. Disappointing that their QC has gone downhill because I love the stainless steel frets on more recent models.

Not as many dealers as there used to be it seems. I have owned a few Axis' and would own another (quality axes), if I could deal with the narrow nut width.

Check Guitar Center classifieds as they usually have some in and you can always return them. I've had a few that had issues but I toss that up to the fact that they were used and beat on. I like their necks but wish they'd use bigger frets on the Axis. The Morse Darklord was one of the cooler guitars they've made.

I've owned some Luke III's but didn't get along with them, ultra small neck and to me they just sounded....wierd.
