I noticed on Reverb listings for new ones they say “crafted in Japan”. Which usually means made elsewhere but finished in Japan. Like maybe the guitar is made minus some hardware and then is outfitted and tested in Japan. Anyone know the real story?

Bottom line is nobody actually knows. They had woodworking done in China and everything else in Japan for a while, then everything was done in Japan for a while and now who knows. What I can tall you is the 2 2023 E-LP-130s I have are absolutely killer guitars.

Great guitars but yeah, I suspect they are made in " Chaina' " and probably quality controlled by certified Chinese luthiers who meet the Japanese standard.

I found some promising looking ones and they would be the 10 pounders, which is a big no for me. No more than 9lbs if I can help it

Ahh, must be that new line they offer for less than 1K I’ve never heard of… ?

No thats the bolted on LP ... the H150 are their LP setneck model... pretty nice there i gotten one in oxblood... sustain was days !!!

The non custom core has more weight in my opinion its just the LP am looking at 4kg and above.... worth to check them out...

i've read that a lot of those lower end asian guitars use "wet wood", wood that hasn't been dried and cured properly and so its heavy and sounds like shit. I'll be honest, if a guitar has any other country listed on it besides USA or Japan, i won't even touch it. i won't even give them a chance anymore. idc how much high end hardware and cool looking finishes they give them, they're all clunkers to me. ?

Not for me. My Chinese Gretsch has been great so far. There’s also plenty of non Japanese guitars now that are quite good. I hear you about the wood not being dry enough on the heavy ones. It’s also why I don’t care for most 70’s Les Pauls. It took me a while to get over my non U.S./Japan bias but with what I’ve had in my hands lately (besides the obvious ?), I just don’t feel it anymore. But still haven’t played a Mexican Fender that played well yet…lol
Bottom line for me is most decent U.S. and Japanese guitars (and U.S. amps) have become too expensive to me. They’re not really meant to be investments (only a loss) or family keepsakes. Plus I don’t want to own only one…that I’m paying off for 3 years. I’ve got much more important things I need to have that kind of money ready for.
All my amps and guitars, but for one, I bought used. And even then, almost all were bought Pre-Covid before used prices went insane.
The price hikes in gear have ridiculously outpaced growth in wages over the years. Used market is untenable on so many things right now.

I want to try a cmg Ashley…USA made set neck lp spec for edwards money. Would love to get my hands on a jimmy page Edwards…..
