Sounds like a flipper. Bane of the music world.
I think part of the problem isn’t even ebay/Reverb, it’s PayPal too. That 180 day return policy killed us, and because they’re so anxious to keep business they’ll take returns for almost no reason at all.
That’s built into a lot of online businesses (MF, SW etc) but as small sellers that shit sucks for us.
I don’t know that there’s any way around it.
I sold one of my guitars to some "Musician" He gave me a hollywood p.o. box to ship to. I have sold a bit of gear, but never shipped to a p.o. box. I got quoted 350 yesterday. If the price doesn't go down when i go to the post office tomorrow, I am going to refund him and just keep the damn thing. It is a really great playing guitar. I would rather it went to someone that would actually play metal with it, as that is what it was designed for.
Thanks guys, working hard on it. Into the last stretch of development for the minimum viable product. If anyone wants to check it the development in progress and provide feedback, just PM me and I’ll give you the dev website.
In regards to making tons of money, I don’t expect that, but would be amazing for it to be a full time job (quit my regular job), support my family and actually help small music shops and musicians. I can’t control payment processing fees, but will have the site fees as low as I possibly can to keep things running.
What do you all think about the Seller’s Shipping and Return Policy being the rule of each transaction?
It feels like the Policy each seller has on the other platforms gets overridden by the site, or am I off base there? I feel like when I buy something then I’m agreeing to the framework the Seller has and if I don’t agree with it, then don’t buy.
F*ck. This. Ass-Hole. And every ass-hole like him. Obvious scammer - buy - bitch - re-list (at a profit!)
Ruining the integrity of online transactions that musicians have worked so hard for so long to establish.
You are 100% in the ‘right’ on this one. Hell, I’m a goddam lawyer and I’d take a case like this to a jury any day of the week.
He is 110% “right.” This guy he is dealing with is a scum bag. If you buy a guitar and you don’t like it, list it for sale like a rational human would do. Don’t fabricate lies and try to get partial refunds or return it because you are a baby and can’t deal with the fact you bought a guitar you don’t gel with.
this has become a problem of epic proportions. There are so many irrational snowflakes that feel entitled to literally do whatever they want and somehow rationalize it to themselves that their behavior is ok.
I want to start a company called, “the price is pain,” and it will solely be a service of retribution and revenge. If someone in the guitar community screws you over, and even if it’s a pick that was a dollar, it won’t matter, the price will be pain. The level of pain, whether mental or physical pain will be determined based on the level of offense, it could be a minor stage 1 offense such as sending a message after item was bought suggesting the item was not as stated (when it clearly was), and for a stage 1 offense like this, it would be a minor punishment, such as hacking the person, stealing their identity, maxing out every credit card, opening up numerous more credit cards, maxing those out, but when maxing them out, only buying things at places the offender regularly shops/buys at sealing their fate when they try and deny it was them. So a stage 1 offense would be a minor punishment like that. But, for instance, say someone commits a stage 10 offense. Oh boy, that will have to be both physical and mental so they always remember their crime against a fellow guitarist. In this instance, the stage 10 offender has managed to get a full refund WHILE SOMEHOW KEEPING YOUR GUITAR! Said scum bad is very pleased with themself. Not only do they have a new guitar, but they got a full refund and they could not be happier. The price is pain will send out it’s top enforcer, someone who has many years jailhouse experience, street fighting experience, and have possibly been in the employ of the CIA and their various torture programs so we can initiate maximum suffering without leaving any marks if the client so desires. The level of anguish would be up to the client and can include anything from physical beatings up to and including amputations, of fingers of course ending their guitar playing days, breaking legs, removing a kidney to compensate violated party for their financial loss as well as the stolen guitar, plus a hefty interest payment, and something called the jackass payment.
im joking of course, but I would like it if there was a service that had a top notch hacker, always staying in offenders computer, and EVERY TIME they posted an ad on reverb, eBay, rigtalk, gear page, etc. the hacker would include in the ad that this person is a scum bag and thief and post a list of their offenses and crimes preventing them from ever making a sale or trade again. This is something I would immensely enjoy seeing.
this stuff has to stop. It’s gotten totally out of control. It’s so much worse that guitarists do this to fellow musicians and forum members. When I think about this it never fails to shock me. Being part of the online guitar community is awesome, and there are a lot of good dudes. Somehow, the rotten members have to be weeded out and kept out.
some of you might think I’m overreacting, but wait and see how you feel when you get screwed over and robbed by someone in the guitar community.
Sounds like you've put a lot of thought, and time and effort in to planning this business venture. LOL.![]()
