On a 4 holer? I know two of the inputs are BE and HBE. Im assuming the Volume I and II become gain adjustments for the BE and HBE . Volume I pulls out to enter C45 mode correct.
Just curious

There aren't separate gains for the BE and HBE.

On my modded Marshall (1959SLP Reissue), the top right input is HBE and bottom right input is BE. Dave added two volume knobs (covering the two left input jacks) and turned my one channel amp into two. I can set the volumes and gain separately to have one heavier channel, etc.

Also, my C45 mod is turned on via a switch on the back of the amp (same with the SAT, FAT, and effects loop).

I feel you pain dude. Mine went from singing AC/DC's "TNT" as an 8-year old to ganster rap. :)
