Which amp for Johm mayer type tone?

Im looking for some help on some of your opinions on which amp would work best for a John Mayer type tone? I know he uses Two Rock but im not spending that much right now. Can you guys suggest some heads/combos that would work well for that style of blues and lead tones. I did try out a Fender blues deluxe reissue the other day and that was pretty nice but am looking for a few more ides. Thanks in advance :thumbsup:
 
PS: I've got a Bruno Cowtipper 90 that can get damn close to his real tone...and it's not nearly as expensive as most TR's...

Fender Deluxe Reverb + a good Strat (I use Texas Special pickups - bright tone) will definately get you there. A good OD pedal is needed. For my Deluxe Reverb, since its only 20-something watts, I use my RC booster to push the amp a little bit and you get that great breakup/natural distortion thing. It doesn't sound mushy or anything, just pure overdriven clean tone!

Other OD pedal options: OCD, Fulldrive, Tube Screamer, BB Preamp (set at lowest gain possible)

The Egnater Rebel head I just got can do this sound as well, with or without an OD pedal.

AmpliFIRE, is that You playing in the vid? I looked at all of his/your videos and they are NASTY! I'm lovin' it...and wishing I could play some of that stuff in the other vids...
