Which Hamer Californian is this?

that looks like the top of the line version, boomerangs, ebony board and all maple ! sweet guitars

Based on the serial I think it is an '89. It seems like it could be an Elite but not one of the top level of Elites since it isn't bound and doesn't have the flamed body. And its not an Elite Custom because it doesn't have a set neck. I think I'll just bid on it anyway, it's pretty sweet :D

With that action bid wise and the serial number it is USA, the body is solid maple from the looks and the offshore models were not solid maple from what I remember.

That sucker is going to climb, get ready to bid high.

I had one in purple that was great, my favorite was the hallographic (sp ?) skull that was a killer hamer you never see

Did not see the other pics down the page, damn that is one fine Hamer.

I would go for it, they do not come up very often.

I have a late 80s Diablo that is killer, the neck competes with any other highend builder today.

The damn thing is at $1,500 with still 12hrs left. I bet it'll end up around $2k.

I had an amber Elite custom back in the day... solid flame maple body, bound, boomerangs...bought it used for $500, sold it with the original case for $750 in 1996.
My band at the time said that was the best tone they ever heard out of me, and at teh time I was playing neck through Jacksons, LP's, and ESP's

Those 80's Hamers were killer
Damn I wish i still had it...

I'm going to be ill... I had a Holo-Skull Californian and I got rid of it back in like 1992. Why? Well, I needed something to be my main guitar on the road with a touring "pop band" and the Holo-Skull was too "Metallic" - their words not mine. But, when you graduate college with no hope in getting a job in your field at the time and some band offers you $650 a week with all expenses paid to play a bunch of early 90s pop.... you do what you have to do.

Thanks, I'll kick my own ass later.

Xander

Damn $500 - $750 for a Californian, I wish those were still the prices today. If one pops up for less than $1,300 it usually sells within minutes.

Yep - there is a nice black with gold one on eBay now, but not in my price range

I was just outbid by $25 at the last minute on the quilted one   :aww:

Live and learn!

I may be in the market for a Californian or a SS model before year end... hell, even the right Chapparal might fix my old Hamer jones :gethim:

Have you seen the Hamer virtuoso that pops up on the 'bay occasioanlly?

Yeah she has had those up on eBay a few times. $2,500 is just too much for them, I have a hard time believing they'll ever sell. I had offered around $1,800 for the red one but she got pissed at me and said no way. Oh well, I'll wait for a normal seller who is looking for reasonable prices.

Funny. I have a 1994 flame Centaura. It's worth exactly bupkiss. I look on eBay though, and you see people selling Centauras on there calling them Californians. They are such crap. People aren't even willing to put the real name on the auctions.
