Which, if any, delay works out front?

The best way to deal with either a loop or effects in a loop sucking tone is to dial in the best tone available with the loop/effects in use and never, EVER play your amp again without them. You'll get used to the tone with the loop/effects and it won't be a big deal.

Seriously! Just don't unplug the effects and play the amp or you'll notice the tone suckage right away and go crazy. :)

Chris

I know what you're saying and was planning to do just that. I think my biggest problem might be getting the return level set correctly because there is no easy way to a/b the level on the return and the level with nothing in the loop. I think this level is critical to the tone... if I hit the pi too hot, or too cold, it just doesn't do it for me. That's what I'm thinking, anyway, I might be totally wrong.

The thing that's killing me is that I'm not really a tone snob. I can make do with pretty much anything.... but this is driving me nuts. It either gets buzzy/chainsaw like extra distortion -- that's when I think I'm probably letting the return signal get too hot. Or, I lose dynamics.... and that could be from the level or just the unit a/d-d/a itself.

I'm going to try the Suhr Minimax and see if that is the answer.

Delay always sounds way better in the loop to me, i wouldn't bother with one up front.

Turns out the Minimix won't work with the unbuffered loop in the Budda... I wonder why they put such a *basic* loop in those amps.

I have three choices, as if anyone cared. :D

1) Build the circuit in TUT -- stand alone or mod the amp.

2) Keep hauling 2 cabs (I guess that I could wire one cab for stereo) and run wet/dry.

3) Use the stock loop and never take the g-major out.

Thanks for the input, guys!
