Does anybody know of a looper pedal that works well with playing higher gain metal stuff? I had a Boss RC-2 a few months back and when I used it with my 5150 to try and harmonize distorted riffs it sounded really muddy and sloppy. I'm wondering if there are any pedals that might sound better for that kind of stuff or maybe the RC-2 would work better with my DSL since it's a lower gain amp? Any suggestions?

Where are you putting your looper, out front or in the effects loop?

I have heard the boomerangs are really nice, but I don't think they make a stomp box version.

I am using an Akai headrush E1. Nice looper and delay. I put mine in the loop and it handles gain fine. By putting it in the loop it records the gain from the amp or pedals. Works well for me. I bought it for the delay, but the looper has been a handy practice tool for working out solos.

Is that pedal a dedicated looper? How long can it record and how many layers of stuff?

The headrush is more of a delay with a looper function built in. Not sure about the Headrush E2 (newer version), but the E1 has 23 seconds of time. I generally only use 1 repeat, but it can do a few at least.

I would really check out the boomerang, not sure if its still available though. http://www.zzounds.com/item--BOOBOOMERANGPLUS

My brother just got one the other day and it seems to work really well. Not sure which one but I'll check it out later :)
