Hey guys,

look for a new bridge pickup for my 92 LP Classic. Want to get something motorcity, would you recommend the afwayu or 2nd degree blackbelt for this guitar?

Style is rock/punk/hard rock.

Thanks.

that's very vague
what bands?
what are your amps?
how do you like your stock pickups output, midrange voicing, bass response, brightness?

Honestly, you'll likely get several various responses on here. Best bet it to e-mail Wade or call him and he is usually pretty spot on with his recommendations.

I love my 2nd degree BB's and I play blues/classic/hard rock.

2nd degree black belts are great as a hot vintage style pick up. My new favorite though is the Solution.

I actually liket the 500t ceramics that came stock in lp classics, they are really hot but still retain a little of the classic character

I have an Angle Dust and a Blisster that I like in Les Paul style guitars.

Amps are Uber Twin Jet, EVH 5150 III, Orange thunderverb.

I like the 500T that was stock, but my other LP with a WCR Godwood just seems so much thicker and meatier.

Bands that I like tonewise: Alice in Chains, Volbeat, Queens of the stone age.

I like having a vintage feel, but still want it to have a bit of aggressive edge.

Thanks.

For the hot vintage you would want blackbelt/blisster/detroiter.

Angeldust/Solution/Afwayu are more modern sounding.

All pickups mentioned in this thread sound great in a LesPaul. I keep a 2nd Deg. Blackbelt in my main LP and it covers all bases of rock to metal.

If you want an "aggressive edge", then try the Detroiter. I replaced my Godwood with it and have no desire to look elsewhere. The Godwood was too thick/chewy on the low strings for what I was playing and I needed more crunch. The Detroiter is definately more aggressive than the 2ndDBB. I had an Afwayu in a super strat and didn't really like it FWIW.

love the 2ndDBB. Wades makes a alnico 2 blackbelt that is also killer

Jerry uses 2nd degree in his LP's fwiw, but you seem to be describing a Detroiter IMO.
