Tight with tight lowside bass, and lots of treble/high mid crunch? Its going into an Alder guitar.

2nd Degree Blackbelt. But the ? I have is how hot do you need it? The Detroiter is hotter with a little more p90 sound to it. Wade has a exchange policy so if you don't like something you can get a different pickup. Dave

 Really? I thought the Detroiter was on the lower end and the 2nd DBB was hotter. I've got a matched set of Detroiters and sometimes I'm looking for a hotter signal. I thought I was going to go with these next. Maybe not now...

Wade told me the Detroiter was a little hotter too. He said it was a little more muscular/fat with some more snarl than the 2nd degrees. So I'd look at one of his other offerrings if you want hotter than the Detroiter.

If you want it as hot as a Duncan Distortion, I would suggest the Torque. Very fat with lots of low end, but has that hi-fi top end that makes it really chug.

Which would be better between it, and the Suhr Doug Aldrich?

I can't make comparison between the two, but I have an Aldrich in an alder super strat. In your first post you said you want "lots of treble/high mid crunch". I find the Suhr to be more smooth than crunchy in that guitar. It's a nice pickup and it can get nasty, but I wouldn't describe it as having lots of treble/high mid crunch. Just my $.02.

So the Aldrich isn't like an EVO then? This pickup will also be going into an Alder Strat.

I've only played an EVO a couple of times so I can't really say if it is or isn't. The Aldrich description on Suhr's website is pretty accurate so check that out if you haven't. You might also want to check out James Lugo's Pickup Shootout thread and listen to the clips. Check out the Bareknuckle Rebel Yell in the clips. Lots of crunch & saturation and it's DC rating is just under the SD distortion, not that it tells the whole story but....Give Wade from Motorcity a call or email too and tell him what you're looking for. He'll be able to point in the right direction with his line.

Cool, thanks man. I didn't know there was a shoot out thread.
