Which OD with Diezel Herbert

Hey guys

I'm looking to expand my board and get an OD that would compliment the Herbert. I generally use OD's for solo's, to thicken and juice them up and get a tone that's a little over the top from the amp's usual offering. So far I'm leaning towards the Xotic BB Preamp but perhaps there's something else that should be on my radar? What can you guys tell me about the BB+ model? Does it offer the same as it's little brother plus an extra stage? Any thoughts on the Majik Box Rocket Fuel? Or maybe something as simple as the OCD would do?

RC Booster was great with mine! I think an OCD would be great, I think A.Wood uses an OCD with his.
 
OCD or A Modded Maxon TS9 are cool. used both. Sound killer. :D
 
I'm gassing for a lovepedal Kalamazoo. there's a clip on youtube with it vs a Klon. not much in it but i prefer the lovepedal.

nice transparent OD should kick it up a notch for solos
 
Rocket Fuel is pretty damned good with the Herbert.


i run a Fulltone GT-500 with my Herbert, and every other amp. been through a bunch of pedals, and the 500 has stopped the flipping.
 
I've been using an exotic bb preamp and I'm stoked with it with the Herbert.
On channel 2- and on channel 1 it adds just a little edge with the gain barely cracked open and the boost at about 12:00.
It doesn't change the tone of the amp. I pretty much leave it on all the time i guess.
 
I've been through a bunch (fulltone, maxon, hbe, barber, etc) and the Xotic BB is the best on for me. I thought the BB+ was overkill if you are just using for amp boosting - otherwise a great pedal too. I think the Xotic AC booster was great - haven't tried the RC - but want to.
 
With a Herbert I never even thought that anything would be needed in front of that head.
 
I'm using a BB Preamp set up for some dirt on Ch.1 and 2-, another BB for 2+ and 3 for a bit of a push
and an EP Booster on all 3 channels. It's not a matter of needing a boost, but wanting one.
 
Xotic RC booster is a great pedal and it's for sale.

Thanks so much for the replies guys! When I was in Chicago I tried the BB with the Herbert and was impressed. I see quite a few people have felt the same about it so I went ahead and bought one today. I also bought a Sansamp GT2 just for fun (not for the Herbert, more of a studio tool) and I'll also keep my eyes open for an OCD as I've wanted one for a while.

Does the Herbert need boosting? Not particularly. Is it going to be a fuck load of fun boosting it? Hell yes! :rock:
 
I use a Danelectro Transparent overdrive and it sounds EXCELLENT!!
Cheap Timmy clone for about $40.00 new.
Get the Version one.
You can tell when its kicked in...... :rock:
No gain added and treble and bass set at noon with the volume level maxed.
I run the Gain at noon on the Herbert and its the most incredible Metal/rock tone I have heard with the OD. Freaking LOVE IT!! :thumbsup:
