Which picks for fast picking

I'm practicing fast picking right now. Triplets and shit.

Which ones do you use for fast picking?

There is really big difference in which ones you use, I've learned. :)
 
Lately really feeling the jazz 3 XL series. I'm using HUGE (.65) strings and the rounded off stiff tip (lmao) rolls over the large guage string edge extremely smoothly. It's all in the tip baby...
 
Dunlop Jazz III or you can use the Tortex III (like regular Tortex with a sharp tip) if you don't like the jazz shape.
 
sharp picks tend to help i find, jazz IIIs are good for that, the dunlop ultex sharps are pretty cool too
 
I literally pick the same using any thickness as long as it is standard pick shape. The little jazz size mess me up.
Never had an issue fast, slow odd pattern, etc. I guess i am lucky
 
My go to pick is Dunlop green Tortex but I'll use blue or purple also. They don't break and are firm enough. I don't like the jazz picks as much because they wear in a manner that ends up with them catching onto the strings. I also can't get a good grip on them, even the ones that have a dip in for the fingers to grab. Definitely tried them for a while
 
i use Dunlop Tortex .60mm sometimes .73mm. I have them both in my case but they are black so i just grab whichever when i start playing.
 
Dunlop Jazz iii's for the win although i can gennerally do the same playing with any pick as long as its not Evh thin or worn to a shape of a penny...
 
I mentioned this on other pick threads, but the pick is a BIG factor. It really does matter in terms of affecting your technique and speed.
I used everything under the sun. There's a whole box of picks in my studio from all the ones i collected over the years.
I love the Wegen Fatone 5mm, really helped my picking, they're f##kin thick, but the way they're shaped with the bevel blade, they really do slice through the strings fast. Maybe a little too slippery.
I always keep my eyes out to try other picks. The Ultex are really unique because the material feels to me a lot like the old tortoishell, which were great for tone and articulation.
 
i just use tortex/delrin .8, once you get used to something it doesn't matter what it is.

All that being said, I prefer the yellow Tortex's nowadays, after many many years of Jazz III XL's.

Paul Gilbert is just the coolest down to Earth dude. I wish I could buy him a beer and talk to him about TV shows.

That's the one i use. A pick's a pick pick it up and play. Choke it down to what you want
