Which preamp tubes for Rebel 30? I know this...?

Hello friends!

I was wrote to you with my problem clean channel in Rebel 30. So I resolve this ;)

New Rebel 30 in preamp has tubes 12ax7WA (gain 80) so when I change this with 12ax7 without WA (Gain 100-110) the amp are crazy and sounds is not to good. I was beck to stock tubes sovtek 12ax7WA and everything is OK :)

Tell me, this information are not be in manual for Rebel - why? this is very important for users Egnater amps.

The Rebel 30 can have 12ax7's in any position.
Did you replace all the tubes, or just one? What position did you have it in?
Maybe your tube was micro-phonic or bad. Even brand new tubes can be bad.
 
How did you determine which tubes were higher gain? The gain spec on any 12AX7 is about 100 , not 80-110? FYI, tube quality/consistency in general is at an all time low so you almost can't go on specs alone. We have tested hundreds of 12AX7 tubes and found that the spread of tolerance, even in the same batch of tubes, is surprisingly wide. All this means is, if you find a tube that works for you, be happy and play your guitar. If you like to tinker with tubes, don't be surprised if your results do not match what you "expect" to hear.....which is another issue in itself. We have seen so many tubes bad right out of the box (of all brands!!), there is no guarantee that the new tube you have (or your precious NOS tube) is really working properly anyway. That is why I say if you find something that works for you, stick with it and don't be disappointed if the more expensive, cooler brand tube does not do what you think it should. There are no guarantees in life.....and tubes are no different.

OK, so another tubes was be bad? soun d from this was be very compressed, not open and clean very fast crunch.

Tell me where I can buy set of tubes to my rebel 30 when my present are dead? and which tubes are good? I should buy Sovtek 12ax7WA like now? or test new brand?

My opinion on new production tubes.
I have not found a single EH tube that I like. Preamp or power. They just sound dull and lifeless to me.
Tungsol sound to brittle and the Mullards are way to unreliable.
As much as people hate the Sovteks, I have fallen in love with them. They have great overtones and harmonics.
I also like JJ's and Ruby's..... a whole lot. And I also like TAD's in the power section.

I like the groove tube 6L6 and 6V6 in the power section. Full low end and nice highs.
The pre-amp GT's, like the 12ax7 GT-C and GT-M, sound marginal to me. Nothing special.
And they are priced a little higher than most NP tubes.
