I've seen a couple of videos which was recorded with an iPhone and some sounded descent!

Like this:

It sounds as good as some of the videos that was recorded with the Q3HD.

What your experience?

:)

They all suck. Buying a phone for its audio recording quality is like buying shoes based on how well they double as a hammer.

Yeah, i know.

But it definitely seems okay in the video i posted in first post.

Check this out.... this was recorded with my iPhone when I first got it... iphone hands down man, between all the guys in my band we all have droids, blackberrys, iphones etc... and the iPhone is best for recording louder audio by a long shot... I've been to a couple huge shows as well, right up front, and the iphone recorded the audio and video perfectly...

Check out my youtube channel if you want. Everything was recorded with the Iphone 4

I have the feeling that it captures the sound like I hear it in the room very well. Of course some lower frequencies are missing and maybe it adds a little bit hights.

Very true.

However, I have recorded a few quick clips on my iPhone 4, they're okay. It gets the job done but it isn't anything I would use to showcase/demo/etc.

If you have an Iphone 4 you can buy a tascam TAS IM-2 that conects to the Iphone and it really kick ass then. It will hang with Zoom Hd as far as recording and doesnt clip as easily as the zoom. Its like 75 buck and well worth it.

Hey, that is pretty sweet. Got me one coming. I am lazy as hell setting up stuff for quick clips and transferring to the computer from other devices.

Thanks for the heads-up on that.......

So, I have bought the Tascam IM-2 and I will send it back. It`s cool for recording audio files, but it`s not that good for recording the audiosignal when, filming videos.

The problem is, that you do not have any display for the microphone level, while making a video! So, if you turn up the level on the Tascam to 100% and put the limited "on", it still gets distorted, when you record videos at higher volumes.

If there would be an App for doing HD videos with the iphone and having a display for the input level of the Tascam, than it would be cool, but only hoping that the limited will do it`s job, does not function well, that`s a pitty.

So, I will carry on, using just the Iphone without additional microphone

Im2 good enough for quick band rehearsals n ideas??? All I give a crap about. Studio is for the real deal.

That's actually not true, simply because with an iPhone you can buy an iRig Mic, an Apogee MiC, or a Tascam mic that all sound better than any phone's built in mic.

So with an iPhone and the Tascam, you can easily make videos or record audio that competes with a standalone recorder.
