Thinking Aldrich, but are they too hot?

I realize its a bolt on and not a LP, but its the closest I have to an LP and I want it to sound as much like one as possible.

Matt:

I have the Aldrich's in a Warmoth bolt-on strat guitar. I had Suhr make me a pickguard w/ Modern wiring scheme, and man does it kick major bootay. If you like the SSH+ / SSV, then you will love the Aldrich's. Ed / John both told me that Aldrich used the SSH+ / SSV for a long time, then made them a bit hotter (not much...difference) and they friggin rock man. I think the Aldrich's would kick major ass in that PRS. The warmoth bolt-on guitar is alder body, maple neck, ebony fingerboard. One of my best sounding guitars!

I have 4 Suhrs and the one I like best is the SSH+. To me the Aldrich has too much high end metal-ish thing going on where as the SSH+ is hot but still sounds more vintage, without that metalic bite on the top. I will be changing some of my ALDs to SSH+. The difference at least to me was bigger than I was led to believe. DSH+ is great too, but even a bit more vintage as the top end is not as bright.

The Aldrich pickups are great ... will give you a more compressed tone if that is what you are after. I also tried the DSV'a and they are the lowest output pickup Suhr makes ... and is closer to a classic Les Paul styled PAF.

Have SSH+/SSV in another guitar now as well. Warmoth alder body / maple neck & ebony fingerboard strat. They sound amazing.

The SSH+/SSV pickup set or Aldrich pickup sets are definitely my "all around" favorite humbucker pickup.

BKP Rebel yells sound awesome in a Les Paul...and BKP stormy mondays sound awesome in my baritone, but for anything else...the Suhr SSH+/SSV and Aldrich pickups just can't be beat honestly.
