which to buy

I know it is all subjective but I'm itching for another amp. So my choices so far are , Diezel Hagen, Diezel Dmoll, Diezel Herbert,20th shiva, 20th Ecstasy.

I have a VH4 so I'm a bit afraid the other Diezels would be redundant. However, if I liked any of them better I don't have a problem selling the VH4.
I just don't want to buy one and it is basically the same thing I already have. From what I've heard on the webz the Hagen seems to be a less compressed VH4 which I think I would really like. The Dmoll is the bottom of the Diezel list and really an unlikely candidate but I'm considering it. Isn't it suppose to be basically a 100w herbert? The main thing that turns me from the herbert is that its 180w.

IN the Bogner camp I've had an Ecstasy and while it is a great sounding amp it was a bit middy for my taste but I do miss having it. I'm also thinking the 20th would be what I had plus some. As for the 20th shiva I really like some of the stuff I've heard on the net. However, a lot of it is mid-heavy as hell.
I realize this could be the settings on the amp and guitar players do love mids.

So any insite is appreciated .

If you've never had one, the Shiva 20th would be good and different enough from the others in your list. I had one a couple years and loved it. It has this low-mid thing that just punches. When I think of mine, that's the thing that I really remember most, where Marshalls are really mid heavy, Diezels will hit in the bottom. They all overlap a bit depending on how you dial them in, but the Shiva really shines in the low mids and just sounds tough and mean. Probably the cheapest of your list too.

Thanks , how is it in the highs and upper mids . While I like the lower mids it’s not what makes an amp cut through. The main reason I don’t already have one is because of all the demos showing nothing but the lower mids

Ive have had every amp you listed. For me, the VH4 was my favorite Diezel. I also think you're on the right track in regards to redundancy with Diezels. They are all quite similar at the core in my opinion. The shiva is great and as Strat said there is an emphasis on the low mids.

Have you ever considered KSR stuff? Might be something worth checking out. Really great amps

It can still cut, no issue there. It has the ability to dial it in higher or lower with some flexibility. I kind of suck at describing, but basically I think it sits between a Diezel and a Marshall if that makes sense.

Idk if you’re a Kiss fan, but Paul Stanley’s solo live DVD Live to Win has Rafael Moreno playing a pair of Shivas with his Les Pauls and pedalboard etc and I think it’s great live hard rock tone.

Out of what you mentioned I would opt for the 20th XTC with 6L6 tubes with the Herbert being my next choice. Are you opposed to Fryette or Wizard?

DO I bought an engle invader II . found one at GC used . IF I don't like it I can take it back.
