Who does colored bobbins besides DiMarzio? / Bobbin Toppers

I love my RG770DX, despite all of the damage done by the previous owner, but it really needs new pickups. It's still got the stock set from 1991, and they are lacking. They don't sound bad really, but I'm not completely satisfied. The middle position (2/3/4) strat tones (wired for splitting+ single in the middle) do sound really good though. I'd like to get a set that retains the single coil sounds.

I've never changed the pickups because of the colored bobbins. I did find a guy who sells bobbin stickers that are color matched to Ibanez colors (mine is laser blue), but I'm not 100% sold on using stickers. They look nice, but I'm not sure if they will hold up over time. I would really like to do a whole makeover on the guitar, to fix the damage. It needs some chips/dents filled, and either a lot of touch up paint or a whole refinish. I keep changing my mind on what to do with it. Sometimes I dig it the way it is, but then I see pictures of 770DXs in mint condition, and get the itch to have mine completely redone. Either way, I won't be changing the pickups without matching the laser blue bobbins.

I could try and get the color matched and paint them myself too...not sure if I want to/have the time to do that. I don't like having my pickup selection be limited by bobbin color  Does DiMarzio even do colored bobbins anymore? Maybe the Duncan custom shop could put something together for me? A custom color duncan would still be cheaper than ordering a set of Bare Knuckles or Motor City, I'd think.

Here's a link to the bobbin toppers. They look really nice. If they can stand up to some abuse, then I'll go with this option. I take good care of my stuff, and I'm not playing live currently, but I REALLY hate working on guitars. I want something I can install and forget about.

The bobbin toppers didn't work for me. My picking style always rubbed them off.

That's what I was afraid of  Thanks for the info!

Might not be the case for you. They fit and look right. It's just that I abuse the hell out of everything and hit hard, so they peeled on one corner.

I might buy some and give it a try anyway. At $2 a piece, it won't hurt to give it a go. It depends on what pickups I end up going with. I've got a Rio Grande Crunchbox here I could throw in the bridge, but that pickup doesn't even have bobbins! It's all one piece. Anyone got any pickup suggestions? I'm hoping to put a Tremol-No (or something similar) on it so I can change tunings quickly, allowing the guitar to be a bit more versatile. I'm looking for some pickups that can handle modern-esque high gain tones for the down tuned progressive metal I've been writing lately, but I want to retain somewhat authentic single coil strat sounds. The 770 is the only single coil guitar I have in my arsenal currently. It's my go to for recording clean tones and getting strat like sounds.

Tonight I am putting an old set of EMGs in my LP, so I need the RG to fill in for what the EMGs will lack. I'm hoping the EMGs turn out well..I seem to have a love/hate relationship with them, and I haven't had this set in a guitar in about 8 years.
