Any suggestions for a nice 7-stringer? Never went outside the 6string realm, just wanting to screw around with a 7-stringer, any Ibanez models that stand out? The Carvin 7stringers look like a real bargain on eBay as well  Just looking for anything under $1k

Floyd Models:

Ibanez RG1527
Ibanez RG7620
Schecter C-7 FR
Schecter Loomis 7

Non-Floyd Models:

Ibanez RG15271 (Japan model)
Ibanez RG7621
Ibanez Xiphos 7
Schecter C-7
Schecter Loomis Non-Trem

That's about it for $1k or under. There are lower quality Ibanez and Schecter models if you want to go real cheap, but I don't recommend them. There are also some ESP models, but I hate the 7 string ESP models. The Carvin ones vary too much in price for me to include them, but you can look into those as well. Remember that they use lower quality floyds on their guitars, and the pickup routes are non-standard.

Thanks for the suggestions, I looked at the Petrucci models previously but they are way out of my budget

Jackson COW, that's all I play
At least till James Tyler makes me a 7 :D

Better fret and finish work than the Schecters,
as well as beefier neck and sound than the Ibanez in the price range,
though both of those are cool I have owned 2 of each

Mahogany body, Ebony board,No neck pup, hard tail, EMG 707...
They play and sound great for the bones,
I have 3 from Drum City

Every note on my myspace is one

Hope it helps

Every Carvin that I've owned came with an OFR from the factory.

How many Carvin 7 string floyd-equipped guitars have you owned?

To show how old most of the carvin's I have owned were, they came with Kahlers!

That's a list you absolutely cannot go wrong with. Any Ibanez guitar can be great with the right pickups.

Every Carvin 7 string or 6 string ? I looked into this awhile ago and was told 7's or not OFR. Even ordered one it was not an OFR.
