just curious how many people here run 2 or more amps at once for their guitar tone?

a lot of rig rundowns usually have some kind of multiple amps running, and it's something that is rather tempting with say 2 2x12s or something like that and i can imagine it sounds huge

I am a Huge advicator of the Dual Amp rig.
There's a bit more leg work setting up
but it's all worth it to me.
In a band with one Guitar player,
the Huge Sound can't be denied.
I personally love running Two, Killer
Amps at once.

Now a Über TJ and a 5153 for rock/metal. For a more modern country and blues tone, the 5153 and a Zinky Velvet.

Two slightly different voicings makes huge width and good ear appeal IMO.

VHT UL and Diezel Herbert for me. Into 2 4x12's. I'm the only guitarist and we have no bassist so it helps fill things out.

nice rig =0

i'm thinking it's even more of a difference for bands with just the one guitarist, i'll have to spend some more time in the practice room at some stage with an A/B pedal and two amps setup

i had this idea of 2 2x12s and two lunchbox style heads or something both setup semi clean/dirty, pedals in front, would be a tasty combo

a friend will normally get a diezel herbert soon to go with his 6505 through 2 cabs, curious to see how that turns out =0

One is the SE+ and the other is the PT-100.
I run them together with slightly different settings
to round out the Full Spectrum of sound.
I run them through a Morley A,B,Y Pedal,
I switch to the Cleans via. the CAA footswitch's.
The SE+ is voiced closer to the Scooped, Modern sound
while the PT has a more upper midrange that is voiced
closer to the Modded Marshall era.
Both with Crystal, Killer clean channels....
They just work Well together!!

Over the years I've had just about every combination
you can think of Bogner Twin Jet/Cameron CCV
Diezel Herbert/Bogner XTC, VH4/VHT UL,
Elmwood M90/Herbert, SLO/XTC, the list goes on and on.
I'm finally at a point where I have no GAS and
it's a Good Feeling!!

Depends on what I'm doing. For my band with a 2nd guitar and keyboard player I use a much more compact sound. If my sound gets too big it covers up too much sonic space.

When I play in a Trio I use a huge guitar sound and two amps will work better.

I've just recenty started running mine wet/dry. I run the SigX in a 4-cable hook-up with the gsp1101 and use an A/B switch to add the Mark III with a dry signal. I just bought a RJM Amp Gizmo that does the switching of the channels on both amps. I really love this set-up and control it all with the gsp's Control2 pedal. Lots and lots of options

Good choice. My Fortin modded Uber and my 5153 are sick together. Now that we have just one guitarist (me), the stereo rig helps fill out the sound. I have a few different amps so I get to pick and choose which 2 amps to run at one time but I always run stereo now.

any pics or videos of these?

You guys have me lost, especially with the wet/dry rig

Basically what you see in my avatar, Im running together at any one time..using a combination of Lehle switchers and mute boxes-works perfectly...all into thier own cabs..mike em up,send it down the line to Mr. FOH guy and couldnt be happier...(its the convincing the foh guy to give you multiple mikes that may take some swindling)..but if you can, oooohh boy...tone tone tone....

Yep.

I've been honing my tone with the Bogner 20thA together with the Hagen. It's sounding pretty awesome

i used to run three (marshall KK, engl powerball, and something else from the collection) at a time.

now it's just the herbert and the ultra lead thru two 4x12's with isp subs under each rig.

I run a W/D/W (4) amp rig.
Amps are run, (one at a time) for different sounds.
I have pedals on a tray in the rack which are inserted before whichever amp is selected
The selected amp, drives the signal processing gear which is run through a stereo power amp and powers (2) cabs (L/R)

Marshall Superlead-pedals-ISP Vector 12" guitar sub-Marshall 1960B with 2x12" speakers and 1x15"

Marshall DSL 50-Zilla cab with 1x15" speaker

Sounds huge!

Like Zach I use my rig in a similar setup except I use preamps more...

My two amps are probably different than everyone else here with a two amp set up. I run a JCM800 2204 dry with a Bassman set fairly clean. The Bassman has a bit of chorus and delay, the 2204 is dirty. Both are boosted. I love the mix of a dirty and clean tones. Makes everything much clearer and articulate. Kinda sounds like a heavier and less wet Lifeson tone. I run both with a Voodoo Labs amp switcher.

I use a Peavey Roadmaster and Peavey. Both have the same 6x6L6 power amps, but the Roadmaster has a tube preamp and the Mace has a SS one. So I go into the front end of the Roadmaster then slave the Mace. I could also split the signal and go into the front ends of each, or, for recording, include something else, like my Fender Blues Jr. It depends what I'm doing. The Roadmaster/Mace configuration is for performing . . .

PS: this was at my brother's place. He was just using the Mace . . .

i ran all sorts of stereo setups in an old band since i was the only guitarist for a death/grind band and we needed a huge sound

I bet that sounds great!..Some of the best, purest tones are how you set those amps: not maxed out, tons of dist, and everything else..Ive played a rig similar to yours, theres also no room for sloppy playing as there's not a ton of gainy dist. to hide behind....makes me wanna go find those amps and try that again!....
