Who makes an affordable but solid FL 4x12?

Seems like the only options are Diezel, some Bogners, and VHT Fat Bottom cabs. Are there any front loaded cabs out there that sound good but don't cost an arm and a leg? I know the VHT cabs can be found for a decent price used but they aren't too common.

Look for a used Fender Tonemaster..nice solid and TIGHT sounding front loaded cab. I've picked them up for 250-400 used and the older ones might still be loaded with the original english made V30s...last one I got from GC online for 260...you can take the fender logo off and just put a Marshall one through the mesh like I did and it looks just like the old '60s B cabs..

Splawn has a front loaded option if you want it, and they make very good cabs.

+1 on the tonemaster. I had one for a couple of years and thought it sounded great and super cheap to boot. They are also somewhat compact and easier to lug around. The only reason I sold it is because I'm using a 1x12 and couldn't be happier with it.

Fryette is hands down the best bang for the buck.

Get a used one, and swap out the P50e speakers for whatever you want, you'll be in heaven.

Just my 2 cents.

Carvin used ultra cheap and still very good.

Even brand new I think are only $549 Celstion loaded

Thanks for all of the input guys! I got a lead on a Deliverance cab but it's a bit more than I'd like to pay used...especially because the P50E speakers are a very polarizing speaker. It seems like you either love them or you hate them. They definitely sound good with a tight, dry amp but I'm not sure if they are a good "all purpose speaker".

I agree with Carvin. Used a carpeted one for three years live with my splawn....Sounded great. Only reason I moved on was it was my old bass players, and he got canned. So bought a splawn 4x12 after.

I think Avatar does. Good bang for buck cabs.

All of their cabs are RL. :(

Maybe they have changed... I got a 2x12 from them about 12 years ago that was front load. Still have it today.

Soldano front loaded cabs are great, but they get dogged on around here. Very affordable on the second hand market.

vote for carvin. excellent, all plywood cabs

Dooredge recommended the Carvin 412VB to me as a solid cab. So I called Carvin and talked to them about the specs of the cab. They use 13 ply poplar but I'm not familiar with poplar over birch.
