Who needs drugs when there's sugar and caffeine!!!

I've been doing ketovore for the last 2 and a half months and since today was my cousin's celebration of life get together at his house with family, friends, and neighbors, I figured I'd carb load today for the first time since mid April. I cheated a little on lunch there because everyone had brought carb loaded food, but since carbs don't last as long as a buttload of protein and fat for lunch, I got to starving several hours later. I figured, why not fuck it up in style with some Subway and a big ass soda? I haven't had fast food in forever and figured that'd be best since it's close.

They say that when you get off sugar, most common foods don't taste the same anymore if you go back to them, and they were mostly right. However, after the sammich and the Dr Pepper had some time to sit while I was sitting here practicing, the sugar FINALLY hit and holy cow I was playing faster than I've played in DAYS and was having a REALLY good guitar day. I'm walking around like I'm on stage just slaying it over these backing tracks, and then brought up The Final Countdown. As I'm making that solo my bitch over and over while I just practice it out and get closer to making it 2nd nature, I'm like a man possessed! Like the title says, who needs drugs when you haven't had caffeine or sugar in weeks? Holy shit...and now I have to try and go to bed so I can get up at like 4:30, and it's 10:00 now. I am so fucked!

My wife was doing Keto until she reached a point that she needed to switch as it will only take you so far. And she's militant and doesn't fudge or cheat on the plan at all. But it helped her get to the halfway mark of her goal. Now she's on Optavia, and she's seeing more success. "The struggle is real". lol
But your goals ARE achievable.

Yeah, low carb is only good as a short term strategy. Your brain needs glucose. Most people would benefit by just choosing better carbs than white sugar and flour.
 
I drink enough carbs so I don't eat much carbs or drink soda. Sugar-free anything tastes weird so I'd just rather not. I'm that guy getting the ladies cut filet (or the salmon) with a veg and a side salad no croutons. And two IPAs.💪
 
We had a dude at work who never ate carbs and our cafeteria used to have these huge pancakes for a $1.50 or something like that. He decided to get one after my friend got one, ate it, and had to take the afternoon off because it screwed him up so bad, lol. He was carb overloaded.

Im trying to eat better, etc. I was doing really good for awhile and was eating kale salads, having small portions every few hours, etc. I got remarried years ago and let my self go a bit. Im trying to walk everyday and eat better things. Its hard though.
 
I cut out sugar and carbs and all junk food about six months ago on new years day. I lost 40 pounds and yeah when I eat regular restaurant food or drink it's like a drug. Hangover and all.
 
I literally cannot function without caffeine and sugar daily and in surplus. I gave up smoking decades ago but used to do that too.

That's what my wife and I are doing, Optavia.I lost 40 (230 down to 186 and she lost 30. It works and it seems like it can be sustainable.
 
Carnivore for me (y) Went from 241 down to 175 in 8 months. Hadn't had a French fry or tater in all that time.
Decided to have a cheat about a moth ago and got some Bojangles seasoned fries. Not as good as I remember :ROFLMAO:
was stuck at 178 for 2 months just broke that barrier 2 weeks ago and going down.
Ribeye and NY Strip most days ,lots of bacon and eggs. Never felt better (y)

And I still have beer everyday 🍺

I've been really interested in trying the carnivore diet just for kicks. How do you get the vitamin c and whatnot in?

The level of vitamin C needed to prevent scurvy is quite small- about 6.5 to 10 milligrams per day. Meats contain enough vitamin C to prevent scurvy.
Eating essentially zero carbs makes our requirement for C very low and we get enough from meat, especially if we include organ meat like liver . (y)

According to the doctors/nutritionists that put a lot of the info out, beef has all the vitamin c you need. From what I understand, and from multiple sources, once you go mostly meat, your body doesn't "need" as much vitamin c as vegans and those people like to try and convince you that you do.

That's cool, I didn't realize that! Now that you mention it, I recall hearing a bushcraft youtuber I used to watch say that liver is nature's multivitamin. I'm going on vacation pretty soon here, but when I get back I'm going to give it a shot 😎
